That’s how drivers should be at 13:30…waited right back before seeing it was safe to overtake! Like the way you film the trees and other places….looks very sasquatchy around there! 🤔🧐😎🙂👍🏻

I took rides on Friday and Saturday, but they were no where near 53 miles. I used to make that trip from Akron to Medina and nearby places via the Interstates. The back roads look like a better way to travel. Now it's cold again. Good video.
@TimFitzwater Жыл бұрын
Yeah - way better on the backroads! Route 18 is so built up now - not that I would have ridden it before but at least you used to be able to keep moving in your car. Thanks!

I have one bike with fenders and two without. I only worry about having fenders when it’s going predicted to be a downpour and I’m in work clothes. The rack on my gravel bike has a panel that keeps my back and butt dry without fenders.
@TimFitzwater Жыл бұрын
That sounds perfect. The clip on works for me just because I avoid heavy rain!
@Roboprogs Жыл бұрын
Same. My bikes have rear cargo racks, and my panniers hang across the top, functioning like a rear fender, so, problem solved.

Thanks! One of my goals is to do more of this - even less traveled gravel roads that Ohio has to offer.

I have a late eighties mtb converted to drop bars, rear rack, tourney 3x7 brifters, 1.95 wide knobbies with center ridge, fenders. It's a perfect wet/path/errands/winter/rainy day bike.

Driving without fenders in winter on wet salty roads, is a no go here in Denmark. The black stripes on ones back, that can't be washed out, proves it. Almost the same can be said, with our very rainy and cold summers unfortunately. I wish we had the same tracks in the countryside, as you have shown on your channel.
@TimFitzwater Жыл бұрын
I always ride with the clip on fender when it is wet out - not the same as full fenders but at least keeps the back and but dry. As I mentioned it would be a different story if I HAD to ride in the rain. It rains a lot here but I'm sure it isn't like Denmark. There is a lot of open country here - but I think sometimes it can be a case of the "grass is always greener" - I'm jealous of the cycle paths in your part of Europe or the even more chill, smaller country roads in the UK. I guess we all have to make the most of what we have! Cheers!

Great to see some blue sky 👍Grey skies almost everyday here at the moment. Looked perfect for some fall/winter miles. Are most of your rail/walking/riding trails blacktop or gravel..? Cheers Tim
@TimFitzwater Жыл бұрын
Yeah - pleasant surprise this time of year. They are a mix between crushed limestone and blacktop. More and more sections of the crushed limestone sections are getting paved though - some with what we call "chip and seal". The canal towpaths have traditionally been crushed limestone but there are plans to pave much of it - keeps washing aways in floods.

Is that an SKS mudguard? Is it nice and secure? Satisfied? I have a Topeak one and it could be better.
@TimFitzwater Жыл бұрын
It is. I like it. It has a nice piece of soft rubber and then a threaded bit that has some rubber threads to keep it secure. I had a Topeak one previously - that one tended to rotate a bit more.

Do u ever wear clipless on your urban or touring rides? Why/why not? Wet flat pedals and shoes bottoms seem prone to injury. Thx as always.

Never. My flat pedals have pins and are fine in the rain. I like wearing normal shoes.

dan Wieden who you will know as a photographer, had a great campaign with no tag line. He was meeting Phil knight in the morning, who btw hated advertising (then 😂). Dan was nervous in his hotel room watching the news, happened to be Dahmler go to his execution and the reporter asked any last words and he said “do it!” and Dan used that. True. Check my linked in😉
