Wow..I've been searching for weeks on line for curving zippers. Now I need to find a tutorial of your pouch. Thank you.

Thank you, I had just about given up on zippers. These tutorials have given me the confidence to sew zippers. Just like pressure cooker full of my frustrations, you just lifted the release valve.

You do make it look easy! Do you have a tutorial for sewing a decorative zipper, like the ones that look lacey, etc.? So that all the zipper tape is meant to be showing because it's pretty? Thank you.
@PatternsByAnnie Жыл бұрын
Not exactly. We do install our zippers with the full tape exposed at times. Basically you just want to have a finished edge on the fabric. That could be a binding if you are working with Soft and Stable.

@Bruce Khalil thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

So. It appears that you want to remove as little of the corner as possible, yes?

I do love how easy you make this look. Zippers are intimidating for me. Presently I am making a15" x 15" cushion cover. To make it easier for removing and donning the cover, I want the zipper to extend a few inches beyond the corners. This means that from each end of the zipper it will go back into a regular seam, since the cover does not have an edge with any width. (The front seen to the back creates the edge). So you have any tips about how to achieve this feat?
@PatternsByAnnie4 жыл бұрын
That sounds tough and isn't our specialty. The only thing that comes to mind is to add a zipper strip that lays inside your cushion cover and thus is a bit more free floating. If sewn right, it might be able to close the cover fairly tightly, but when open be loose/not attached to actual corners/seams. We don't have any good photos that show our zipper closure on these totes, but it would be something like what we do on Bon Voyage - www.byannie.com/bon-voyage or MJ's Messenger - www.byannie.com/mjs-messenger-bag Sorry we can't help more.

I'm just learning to sew, and I'm having trouble sewing a flat curved zipper pocket. That is, a zipper on the face of a bag (not the edge), that curves into a U shape. Any suggestions? Can you do a video maybe?

Thank you! I'm working on a leather sling bag and it has a very steep curve. I'd been terrified of trying to install the zipper, and this tutorial helped! My zipper is in and looks great.

I’m trying to replicate a zippered pouch 3” x 5” x 1/2” with a curved zipper. I’m trying to figure if this method will work for my project. This is a wonderful tutorial on curved zippers-Thank you. 🙂 I’m sure I’ll figure it out someway. I intend to practice curved zippers. 😃

Thanks so much for the tutorial ByAnnie! I bought your craftsy class when it first came out and I love it, it's one of my favorites. I do have a question though. I am making a flat case that I want the zipper to be on all four sides but am having trouble easing it as I go around. Do you have any tips?
@PatternsByAnnie6 жыл бұрын
Be sure to round all the corners so that you have a gentle curve. Use at least a 2.5” circle for rounding. Open the zipper if necessary. You might also find it easier to sew the zipper to strips of quilted fabric and then sew those to the case. Fabric eases easier than zipper tape.

I agree, Zippers are easy, no reason to fear. Take your time and if it’s not right, redo it. Trust me you’ll get it.
