Doesn't matter, season 9 servers were down for 2 weeks and they still had people piling in to buy $20 skins and $300 dogwater. The people had already spoken that regardless of the quality and consistency, EA will still be paid. The only way for this to end, is for a hacker to attack and hold hostage the store servers only. Costing EA for every game someone plays. And even then, the only thing EA would do is fix the vulnerability.

Just noting, the "They know how to patch it" quote was originally in the middle of him complaining about Respawn not having a bug bounty program. from his past impromtu interviews mid-apex games with some players, Destroyer speaks very sarcasticly, monotonely, and has a crappy mic. I truly believe it's possible that he said that quote sarcasticly as a "Well, if they don't offer a bug bounty program then it must be because they can patch it themselves of course :^)" kind of statement. It's hard to know though without the audio or at least transcript of the conversation that was had between the reporter and destroyer - since it's also possible that the article pulled the quote out of context and just happened to put it in such a place.

The problem with being in the security team and is that people are constantly showing and sending in proof of teams cheating or groups of people cheating by teaming over and over and nothing gets done, its a communication thing, maybe get the social media side to reaffirm to the audience that security are currently looking at the highest ranks and banning accounts that shouldn't be there, then moving backwards into the lower ranks. Just a confirmation that they're currently doing their Job is enough to hold people over, yet they fail to simply do that. And its been FIVE years, not a week, not a month, not a year but fkn FIVE.

The real security team doesn't ban accounts. That's a completely different department. The real security team PS is talking about sre the devs who actively work on repairing game vulnerability and working with ACs Teams if needed if it's something related to the 3rd party AC. The hacking problem isn't really on apex. It's about 20-30% blame on apex and mostly a 70-80% blame on the AC side which is outsourced by a 3rd party because game companies don't have the money or man power to design an AC within a year or 2. It takes thousands of hours.

I feel in this instance with Apex the reason not to patch it is due to the fact they are running underground Apex hack (ESP, GLOW, AB) subscription sites. They have been double dipping making the game charging so much for the store while at the same time selling the exploits through nefarious random websites just to end up banning those accounts. Apex is the only one im aware of that let's its higher ranked players use cheats and not ban them .

audio for game like this is always weird so you might just need to get used to it, every br games i played always got some audio issues fortnite is so bad I can't even play without visual cue unlike games like cs,valorant,siege where everything is contained in small area(map) and how there's generally no sounds most of the time until something happens compared to Apex where there's legends yapping, ring sounds, announcers when you're just sitting in the corner

As a game developer myself, I'm afraid that bug may have ended up in backlog purgatory. Not high priority enough to tackle before actual functional bugs and new features, so it's known, possibly easy to fix but never gets prioritised and worked on due to how the work is planned by producers, product owners and directors. When you work on a live service game that's unavoidable, you only have that many resources to fix stuff and new work is coming in daily. Whether that was firing specific staff, having terrible matchmaking, making certain items hundreds of dollars to get, not responding to cheating issues when it's just normal lobbies but God forbid that they touch ALGS, and so much more. Perhaps not for this issue, but the overwhelming consensus is that EA genuinely does not give a crap about its player base. And they get full flak for that regardless of their efforts here.

He needs to suffer the consequences for three reasons: 1. He needs to learn actions have consequences and not to be so selfish to harm others for his own entertainment. 2. Send a message to everyone else who thinks like this, that they won't get away with it and will be met with met with justice. 3. This cost money, it was his fault, he needs to pay for it. (Unless the company, for some reason, feels like they shouldn't press charges.) What's crazy to me is the total disconnect between "just for fun" and "malicious act." He's just having fun, while costing a company a lot of money. Analogy: Guy loves skateboarding, guy goes into mall and knocks down a massive sign to create a ramp, cost the owner thousands of dollars for repairs. So if a hacker does things like this, just for fun? He's either a naive kid who doesn't understand actions have consequences, and needs a hard lesson, OR, it was always a malicious intent attack than needs to be met with jail time. He at least needs to be hit with a TOUGH law suit. It's not just the Apex Legends company that needs to now spend a lot of money, but also the teams in the tournament. These guys play video games for a living, and he tampered with that.

Nobody is saying they know it better or they can do it better then the security team, the point everyone is complaining about is that everyone is talking about this stuff for months, there is 0 communication of trying to fix anything, and nothing is happening, untill the entire game is on fire because someone went over the line hacking, the entire point why the community is outraged is because if they actually listened like 6 months ago they might have been abled to prevent this stuff from happening. Piratesoftware saved Respawn. Without him deducting and explaining this to everybody properly, everyone would be flaming or on Respawns throats bc of this. Lotta people are just tryna help the devs fix this and supporting instead of the opposite. I respect this guy a lot, Not only with his extensive background but I saw a comment he almost never does a single ‘uhm or uh’’ as he speaks showing how intellectual he is. The only real benefit or potential justification(from his POV) I see for this is that it is probably better that destroyer did this than if someone else with more malicious intent had. There's no way to know for sure if someone else would genuinely do the same thing to ruin someones career in the future. If the possibility of that happening is removed then there is a silver lining to this situation whether we would have ever needed it or not.

It may even be worse in some cases because criminals don’t have access to your life savings when they break into your house. One of the reasons that some of the hackers are able to say that they are not putting any viruses, (harmful or otherwise) is that there are a huge number of tools that are already on most systems that can be exploited by the attacker. It's often referred to as 'living off the land.' This is fairly common in the ransomware environment. No, none of this is justifiable. If you don't have a signed contract giving you the authority to access a system to demonstrate the security holes, both with the user who's system the compromises are being demonstrated on, as well as the company that produces the software, then you're in the wrong. Demonstrate it on your own systems, record it, and forward the recording to the company with an explanation of what you did to perform that hack/exploit, and who knows, you may be in for a payday.

With this exploit now out in the open, how many players will try to appeal any bans they've had? Will Ayex and Fae try to appeal? What about Johnathan Kosmala and KiD x? This exploit now opens up alot of questions because there's the chance that cheaters will point to this story and say "Hey look, these guys had cheating software injected into their game like _I_did! Please rereview my ban company/team!". Even if this is isolated to Apex, there's now the chance that cheaters in LoL, Fortnite, and other games will try to get unbanned because of this.

Basically, what we've learned from this, is there is one person in Respawn Entertainment and one person in Easy Anti Cheat who are going to at minimum, get a talking to. Respawn, they need to take effort to sort their computer and re-train them in security and for EAC, word your statements better. Until we know the source, don't say it wasn't me. EAC has been circumvented in Halo already so they're not exactly in a spot to say they're in the clear.
