We see some comments about not testing/videoing the boats at sea in waves. We would have loved to have been able to have shown the new performance and handling differences between the two boats at sea but unfortunately we didn’t get to do it on the day for a couple of reasons. Please stay tuned for further videos as filming in rough conditions is definitely on our to do list.

@euyoooo you have totally set yours up wrong then. Sold thousands of sets and the #1 reason for issues is a bad install or poor set up.
@AMIMarineSales3 ай бұрын
@@euyoooo it sounds like you might need some adjustments to the setup of your system. Please send an email to ami@amisales.com.au and we will be happy to assist. Please let us know your location in the email as well.

Zipwake shit on those crap volvopenta ones and I have installed shitloads of all brands...

Im useing zipwakes on my 780w sentor commercial cray boat here in nz. They are a game changer in ruff condition and put the boat up on a even keel when carrying uneven loads. Amazing simple idea that really works.

For an honest comparison tbis test should have been carried out in choppy conditions as that makes a huge difference in the way they perform. My experience with zipwakes has been rubbish. I had a dealer pull the Lenco auto tabs off my brand new Stabicraft 2250 and fit Zipwakes against his advice I might add. They work perfectly in flat conditions but in anything more than a 1m chop, and they are dangerous and unpredictable, so much so that I now turn them off or run them in manual mode. You will find as you come off a wave and on to the next wave the zipwakes have made their adjustment (as mentioned 5 x faster than tabs do). As a result you can often find yourself touching down on the next wave with a boat that has been balanced by the zipwake system for the previous wave. This can lead to sudden and significant handling issues, and in several instances I have had my boat almost broach sending occupants flying into the dash. I can see an application for them in a larger heavier vessel say 20m over but on a small powerboat dont waste your hard earned money.

Hi There, Sorry to hear you having some issues. We've had plenty of good reports for the at sea performance of Zipwake on Stabicrafts so possible there is some sort of setup issue on your Zipwake system. Please send us an email to ami@amisales.com.au with your location and we'll get in contact to work through it with you.

Wow - I am in contract on a 46 Bertram, (should take delivery next week) that has Zipwakes installed. Boat weighs about 47k lbs., so it will be interesting to see how they work.

We think you'll be impressed as we have had excellent results with Zipwake fitted on boats similar in size. All the best with the new boat.

Zip wakes are obviously the go. Great product.. Alternatively, Lectrotab do a great plug and play auto controller which retro fits directly to both Lenco's and Bennett's for around $1,650.00 Looks like you will still need to weld up a couple of holes, wouldn't think those blind rivets won't last long. 🤔
@AMIMarineSales4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comments. The external plates sit off the transom by about 10mm and the rivets weren't necessary or to seal anything. They were fitted by the boat owner just to fill the empty holes with something but could have been left as open holes no problems.
@jb243wp4 ай бұрын
@AMIMarineSales Ahh, yes, I re-watched the video. I stand corrected, the holes can be left with the holes exposed with out any problems due to the separate trim tab plate, good idea on behalf of Barcrusher. Thanks 👍

Great video. Very informative. I use my tabs to steer my boat on long eay turns. Will your system do this too? Can you set it up to work with GPS as an auto pilot?
@AMIMarineSales2 ай бұрын
Yes you can steer the boat somewhat. There is a steering mode built into the Zipwake control panel that you can activate. Turn wheel on control panel clockwise and boat will steer to starboard. No option to use it as an autopilot though.

@@matbob7249 o have fitted all type of tabs ,zip ,keeper systems. I can't afford 😫 any , just the feed back from riding on lots of boats with all systems. Yes the sea keeper ride are 17k aud fitted and zip are about 5k .so if cost is a thing yes zip win every time. But when customers have 700k boats with 80k of sounders,radar night vision 17k to them is nothing not to mention the 300k Ute's there drive . My shitbox amarok drags my tiny stabicraft just fine 🙂

Curious with these on a heavy boat with a single engine and how it affects fuel economy at cruise and the rpm difference.
@AMIMarineSales3 ай бұрын
Hi there, a lot of factors come into it including what speed you refer to, boat length, boat weight, span of interceptors on the transom etc. Please send us an email with as much info as possible and photos if you can to ami@amisales.com.au and we can take it from there.

Hey mate great product!! On a 670c to install them I’ve been told you have to weld a plate ? I’m looking to install zipwakes but I’ve been advised you have to weld a plate, but clearly in the video you guys didn’t need to ?
@AMIMarineSales4 ай бұрын
Hi there, The two boats in the video are 670HT's so I would imagine same plate arrangement on the transom as your 670C. As far as we know using the Zipwake AP300 adaptor plates for the install was a first on one of these hull types. There has been dozens and dozens of Zipwake installs on the same boat brand and we have seen various install methods requiring cutting and/or welding. No need now that we have completed an install to show/prove that the Zipwake adaptor plates can be used instead and it makes it a much simpler installation. Feel free to email photos of your transom through to ami@amisales.com.au and we can have a look and come back to you with our thoughts.

Go out on the Ocean with high Waves and strong current and the Test will be 100% different. I still would go with my Bennets

How would they work on a semi-displacement (non-planing) hull? I know they would correct lateral movement, but what about bow attitude? I have a Merry Fisher 655.

Thanks for your question. Please email us at ami@amisales.com.au with your current top speed and cruise speed and we should be able to advise. Please send photos of your boat and transom also if possible.

Doing these tests on calm water means nothing. An honest way would be outside in real conditions where the boat will be operating. I am a believer in trim tabs and thus by progress zip wakes and the other well known auto brand. Just more real time honest demostration or testing would be better.

@user-xv1ci1ll4n they act speed dependently, so at 6 knts they are retracted and dont do much at all. But you can edit the program to enable them at low speeds
