It's something i've thought about for sure, but I guess I'm trying to do something a little different to what's already out there on yt, and I love the idea of being able to really "explore" the environments vs just looking at them. But I won't rule out the approach you're suggesting for future vids.

Cinema4D. I've been at for about 10 years, but honestly there's nothing in this scene that's super complicated. You could do it in blender no problem. all mostly basic shapes. I probably spend more time on the lighting!
