A lot of those early giant scale designs liked to keep the servos and radio components close to the center line of the aircraft. Dave Platt did a video where he mentioned that as part of the design he desired as it kept the plane better balanced rather than having weight spread out in the wing and far reaches of the fuse. Hence the use of bell cranks long flex rods and push rods. I’m not sure which is worse, having weight spread out in the wing or all of the wonky connections. Additionally today’s servos are smaller, lighter and more powerful than the old “standard” sized back in the day.

Bearcat looks awesome. The video is always fun. Love watching the old school videos from the good ol days. Good luck with your insurance company I had similar problems with roof and tree damage and I ended up replacing the roof out of pocket myself FARMERS INSURANCE SUCKS. I'll just stop there. Nice, I paid a guy way too much, to do a crappy job building one once, I even paid a bunch for scale operating gear for it, I love bearcats.

I'm in dire need of a new building table and I'm thinking of something about 30 inches by 96 in. I miss the days back long ago where you can get a Great plains kit. Also the bearcat is looking great. Once I get the building table finished I'm going to be starting on the NZ panther just like you have. Thanks for the videos....sean

the holes for the wing tube/spar are pre-made from the laser cutter or you made them yourself?

No wing tube......I drilled holes for the ailerons servo wires

Andy been enjoying your build on the Bearcat; not sure how to contact you but I bought a NIB G-38 about 3 months ago; any interest in it; I planned on using it in a BUSA Spad 13 but I could go a different direction on it. I am not one of your flying buds but I would be happy to get your B-25 flying again.

I think you’re a decade off on radio prices. I got a 4 channel Orbit in 1974 for less than $250. My first Airtronics was a 6 Ch SR in 1981 with servo rev, rates and exponential plus a complete flite pack for less than $200. Futaba was similar in price. Kraft commanded a premium
