This car runs and drives perfect! The Nickey spec cam sound alone gets alot of attention. The 2650 maggy, cam and supporting mods is perfect. If you're thinking about Nickey for some upgrades i wouldn't hesitate. Get on the list

Definitely loosing a little power up top compared to the same setup with the ported heads.

This is exactly what I am planning . 1 question, is mileage on the car ever a concern before recommending this set up ?
@ApeMotorsports Жыл бұрын
In extreme use cases like 50k miles of just track use we would assess the engine further. As long as the car has had regular oil changes there's usually no problem with even 100k miles. If you have a 17' we recommend replacing the oil pump.

This looks like the exact setup that I'm going for. Do you happen to have any sound clips of the exhaust note of the car idling with the Nickey cam? I'm just curious of the "chop / lobe" sound. Awesome set up and results....

Hi, love the set up!!! I have a zl1 1le...for road racing, would a btr cam lose the same amount of tq as yours did... Does it matter near 5000 that much? Thanks
@ApeMotorsports Жыл бұрын
This car is up 100 lb/ft over stock at peak. This stage 1 cam only loses a small amount of torque below 2500 rpm. If you are starting from stock and add cai/small cam/headers you will gain torque 2500 and up. If you already have intake/headers adding a cam will drop some torque below 3000 rpm. Not a big deal on a 10 speed car that's road raced. If you are stock, and road race, and want to start modding the car: Stick with the stock pulleys. The stock supercharger creates enough heat as it is and when road raced is getting pushed near it's limits with stock boost. Do a smaller fuel lobe like 22%-27%. Anything more is beyond what the injectors can flow anyway. If you do a cam get aftermarket lifters. We use Johnson in all of these builds. GM lifters such as the ls7 will not last long road racing with elevated oil temps. The higher lift of the aftermarket cams and higher pressure from the aftermarket springs are too much for reliable operation of ls7 lifters.
