How much did it cost to swap it, turbo it, tune it and the labor?
@DeanBKK6 ай бұрын
That's a loaded question as there's so many variables involved... Will you use Chinese parts or brand name parts? (ie. eBay turbo vs Precision). You end up making a decision like this on 50+ parts when doing the swap. Are you focused on just dropping the engine in and hoping it lasts? Or will you do ALL the necessary maintenance while the engine is already out. I'm talking head gaskets, oil pump, water pump, ac compressor, valve gaskets, front and rear main seals, all the O-rings, etc. Also, what's the labor rates like in your country? Are you doing the swap yourself? What's the hourly dyno tune rate in your country? So to answer your question, it could be as low as $8k USD and as high as $30k USD. $8k version = 2JZ motors going for $4-5k now. You'll have to do all the work yourself to save on labor. Then $2k for cheap, low quality Chinese parts from ebay. The remaining $1k on dyno and tuning.

Hi Dean... excellent project... looking to do the same... am in Chiang Mai... would appreciate if you could assist with purchase of a vehicle out of Bangkok with info of good and reliable shop/tuner? Tried a year back but couldn't find a shop in Chiang Mai that was any good so gave up... Thai wife knows nothing about cars so couldn't get her to translate very well so it was very difficult!

I have multiple videos on my channel doing that. In this video, the car was limited to 4500rpm and set up on a base tune.
