Last question I know Thailand makes amazing carbon fiber anything but I don't know anyone there. Any information and possible business for that would be hugely appreciated. I'm just a 43 year old American on East coast that works and stuffs my money into my love my Miata. Awesome ride

Beautiful mad props. I myself been building my NB daily for years. Love it can't wait till it's done. Yes I can be done with my build. Not all builds are forever. Some of us get to a point of satisfaction.

Welcome back! Your car drives, sounds, and looks amazing! Could you please tell me which rear differential you're using? I noticed that your engine RPMs are much lower at high speeds compared to my car. I have a 4.37 differential, and in fifth gear at 100 km/h, I'm at around 3000 RPM
@DeanBKK
@DeanBKK 3 күн бұрын
Thanks Konstantin! I'm using 4.1 ratio diff (but I wish I was lower at 3.7). You can play around with a online "engine rpm calculator" to see what your desired diff ratio should be.

Nice, I always wanted to get a townhouse, but I always wondered about the noise insulation between neibors because it always seems its not really build for noise avoidance.
@DeanBKK

Thank you. Fortunately, these older townhomes are built with strong, thick concrete and the dividing walls between units offer excellent sound proofing. I rarely here anything on the opposite sides.

@@DeanBKK ah nice, seems like in thailand and specifically in Bangkok the rule is to go for older buildings. I live in an older and cheaper condo as well and I never hear any sound from any side. While before I've lived in a newer more expensive condo and noise was insane. Keep em coming

Thank you. The stairs are in the same location, we just knocked down part of the wall on the sides (so now it's more open). I found the contractor through a referral from a friend. The contractor managed it based on my ideas of what I wanted done. I bought most things individually except for paint and flooring.

How much did it cost to swap it, turbo it, tune it and the labor?
@DeanBKK
@DeanBKK 4 ай бұрын
That's a loaded question as there's so many variables involved... Will you use Chinese parts or brand name parts? (ie. eBay turbo vs Precision). You end up making a decision like this on 50+ parts when doing the swap. Are you focused on just dropping the engine in and hoping it lasts? Or will you do ALL the necessary maintenance while the engine is already out. I'm talking head gaskets, oil pump, water pump, ac compressor, valve gaskets, front and rear main seals, all the O-rings, etc. Also, what's the labor rates like in your country? Are you doing the swap yourself? What's the hourly dyno tune rate in your country? So to answer your question, it could be as low as $8k USD and as high as $30k USD. $8k version = 2JZ motors going for $4-5k now. You'll have to do all the work yourself to save on labor. Then $2k for cheap, low quality Chinese parts from ebay. The remaining $1k on dyno and tuning.

Nicely done. I can see you have good intuition. But here is a tip: You an external audio recorder with a good stereo mic on it. Your audio would sound a lot better. You could also put one near the exhaust. I have years experience as a recording studio engineer. I like your ideas for using the camera too.

Hi Dean, just curious how much it costs for the new water system e.g. septic tank, water tank and installation. I'm going to need to do exactly the same thing on a similar size property I own in Thailand. Would be really helpful to have some rough idea what to expect cost wise. Loved the video series by the way!

Hi Chris, I believe it was around 30-40k baht for parts & materials. Labor cost I'm not too sure as it was bundled in with the entire home project.
