the song is about basically she can’t love someone who is doing drugs smoking cigarettes and what not hence the line “i can’t love someone who’s not dying by mistake” basically saying she can’t love someone who’s PURPOSELY killing themselves with drugs etc. if you listen to the whole song again with that in mind it all pieces together? “i’m in a second hand smoke still just drinking canned coke” she’s saying that everyone is out smoking and she’s still drinking canned coke the whole song has a pity tone to it like she pities people who are purposely killing themselves with intoxication.

Great first reaction. Xanny is an indictment of prescription drug use as much as any other illegal drug. Silver Lake reference is to the LA neighborhood by that name and is well-known for its gay bars and unusually high meth overdose deaths. The party scene in Silver Lake is popular with rich LA kids that poorer kids from the surrounding areas, such as Highland Park that Billie grew up in, can't imagine. In the song, there's a party going on in the background. If you hear carefully on headphones, you can hear a girl pointing to someone passing out and then asks "what's your Uber rating?" The video's park bench scene evokes the old Silver Lake park benches on Santa Monica Blvd. made famous by trolley cars and old Laurel and Hardy movies. An iconic location that Walt Disney built his first studio lot.

So Billie rarely does features which is impressive considering her success. She had 0 features in both her debut and sophomore albums. As others already said, definitely react to her collab with Khalid on the song Lovely cause it's genuinely one of her best songs imo to this day. You guys will love it Other interesting collabs she has done is with Vince Staples on her song "Burn" from her first EP Don't Smile At Me (which is dope and i would love to see you guys react to it) , she did the chorus on Danzel Curry's song "SIRENS" (uncredited cause of label issues) and then the Rosalia record. That's about it as far as collabs she has done.

I like it because the distortion is meant to make you uncomfortable like when you're at a party not wanting to do drugs and they blow the smoke in your face um just the discomfort of not wanting to be there

As a 68 year old nerdish guy who likes Billie Eilish and your reactions - I think you guys really came through on the message, though I would add, a lot of it is about not wanting to loose someone to drugs or cancer (cigarettes) - they are those who aren't dying by mistake, they are potentially killing themselves. Also o billie's channel there's a "Snippet into Billie's Mind" about the song & its very insightful. Triple J is an Australian radio station which has a program "Like A Version" where artists do covers of other artists. On July 18, 2019 TRIPLE J featured FIDLAR [punk band from CA.,] doing a cover of "Xanny" and changing lyrics and the meaning to favor Xanny use - I think you would really enjoy it - it's a heckuva transition, but they turn things around and make their point - "I just need a Xanny", "only one who got stoned", "stayed up doing bad coke"! - how's that for changing things up. P.S. on Feb 18, 2018, 16 yr. old Billie did a cover of Michael Jackson's "BAD" for the same program - it's shocking that a young teen could come up with such an reinterpretation to fit her voice & style - Finneas's backing vocals are super impressive. These things are on the Billie Eilish channel and the Triple J channel. You guys bring a lot of fun and joy and insight to your reactions.

I think what she meant by "I can't afford to love somebody who isn't dying by mistake" is like her saying she loves the person but she shouldn't or can't because instead of their death being a random accurance the/she is intentionally slowly killing themselves with drugs.
