Very helpful video by Casey. We purchased a Cadet 230 RU from Boat Specialists but the tube connector that incerts into the inflation port will not twist lock. Multiple people have tried. Is there a certain connector needed to lock in the inflation port to effectively use a foot pump?
@BoatSpecialists3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching our video! The Zodiac tube valves do not have any sort of interlocking device, some may find that their particular valve adapter has enough friction to stay seated on its own (rubber types are often better for this than the plastic types). Your best option is to use an alternative pump such as a K-Pump or Electric. Hope this is helpful.

Casey talks about the series of Roll Up inflatable boats from Zodiac Cadet.

Thanks for the helpful video! I see you also offer the Achilles LT-4, which I am also considering as a tender for our 27' monohull sailboat. I wonder if you can help me decide between the two. The Zodiac is a full 13" shorter than the Achilles (a plus for us), and 8 lbs lighter (another plus). But the Achilles has MUCH more capacity (although this is NOT an important factor for us), and the Achilles is made of "Hypalon" which is more UV resistant than the "PVC" Zodiac. And, stowed dimensions are essentially equal for both boats ... so neither one is really a clear winner. What's left to consider? Speed? Stability? Towing and rowing characteristics? Overall build quality? Any insight would be much appreciated. And again, thanks for the video.

Hi Sailing Daydream. If you are comparing the Cadet Roll Up 230 to the LT-4, the 230 would only be 11" shorter than the LT-4. The lengths for the Cadet Roll Ups are 200 = 6'7", 230 = 7'7", and the 270 = 8'10". Achilles only does the two sizes, the LT-2 at 7'3" and the LT-4 at 8'6". You may want to consider the Achilles LT-2, since that only weighs in at 37 lbs, the lightest of all of these inflatables. All Achilles use CSM or 'Hypalon' fabric and if you are running the boat in warm areas, a UV resistant fabric is a boon. There are UV protectant sun screens out there for PVC boats. This allows certain higher quality PVC boats, like Zodiacs, to last 5-15 years if kept covered when not in use. Achilles does have a slightly narrower stowed dimensions by about 2 inches, fairly nominal, though. Neither of these boats can plane and only move at displacement speeds, so speed is irrelevant. The LT series has larger slat boards, so it can be a little more supportive underfoot versus 4" slats. Zodiac has a more modern valve with only a simple cap to tighten. Achilles uses bulletproof valves that have been around for 30 years, but they are more things to tighten and loosen over the Zodiacs. Overall, it may just come down to fabric choice and whether you want a traditional transom or the LT style wrap-around stern tubes with separate engine mount. Let me know if you have any other questions. Glad you found the video helpful.

is this a non-planing hull?
@BoatSpecialists4 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for your question! You are correct, without a keel, this is a fabric, flat bottom boat that can only accommodate small motors. Planing (at least in the traditional sense) will not be possible.

@@BoatSpecialists This boat actually planes great in calm conditions with 3hp outboard. It feels a little odd as the slats wobble around beneath your feet, but it's not a problem; the bouyancy is coming from the tubes not the floor.

Great production but if you buy some drop shippers and you need something done like a boat to work today buyer beware save 20 bucks I could have went downtown and had my valve replaced or my pump replace it didn't work because some kid in China didn't put the right piece in my equipment and the drop shipper doesn't look at it but if I go downtown pay a little bit extra for my local supplier he's probably going to have it blowing up for me maybe even deliver it, I learned my lesson. They make it seem like they washed down and check every one of these things out this is a drop shipper and if anything's wrong you have to package 7...8 ...10.... 15 ft boat backup send it back to him to make it right, and no 24-hour service not even text or email, you better be up on their hours California time to get any kind of service.

Hi John, we left the following response on another comment of yours and wanted to share it here as well to clarify important details about our business. Feel free to reach out to us at 805-644-6290 M-F 9-5 PST if you would like to discuss this further. John- Based on our transaction history you purchased this boat from us September 8th, 2017. The first mention of a problem was in March 2021, almost 4 years later. Friday night March 5th, 2021 you left 8 voicemails between the hours of 10pm and 11pm EST. As you can imagine, our brick and mortar dealership was closed. Furthermore, a callback number was never provided for us to return your calls. Additionally, you use the word “drop shippers” to describe our business which is untrue. The boat you purchased 4 years ago was shipped from our brick and mortar address direct to yours via our daily FedEx account pickup. Regardless of the aforementioned flaws in your review, we have attempted multiple times to reach out and help solve your valve adapter issue. We spent a fair amount of time going thru our system to look up your phone number and email address on file from 4 years ago to match w/ our phone records. Once retrieved, our company both called and emailed you Monday morning March 15th, 2021 -- the first business day open after receiving your late night weekend phone messages. As of writing this response, we have made multiple attempts to contact you to no avail. We want nothing more than to deliver a top notch buying experience as we have been doing for the past 45+ years in business. Hopefully you will give us that chance, and this time a fair one. Happy Boating.
