@@loredell Yes it's tiring. I think a lot of people conflate the messages depicted in the MV with the song itself. The song tells a universal story of longing and nostalgia, sorrow, and hope. The music video tells a specific story that definitely brings to mind the Sewol Ferry tragedy. Two different things. Both true. And they probably don't know that in 2016 BTS did write a song that blatantly criticized what happened on Sewol Ferry, and it was pretty controversial: "Am I Wrong". Even the choreography was a play-act calling out the government. There is no guessing with "Am I Wrong."

bts write and produce most of their own music, it's kind of what their ceo put the group together for, he wanted members who could tell their own stories themselves also this song has been charting in south korea since it came out in early 2017. the leader (blue suit) wrote it, their rap line does a lot of the writing (esp for their own verses). vocal line are 'newer' to writing but they're well on their way to being accomplished songwriters now as well. their last album BE which they released in november was a pandemic project where they all participated in the writing, production, concepts, and made it a true group project with minimal outside help. they usually don't have the time to do so much themselves so they rely on their team but the pandemic gave them a unique opportunity. they're all very hands on in their own way, especially when time allows.

We call Spring Day our "Queen" :). It was written by RM (second from right) and Suga (second from left) about missing friends from childhood, either due to just growing up and apart or by death. There was a national tragedy in 2014 where over 300 people drowned, mostly school-aged kids, and this song (2017) struck a cord with the Korean public. BTS embraced this correlation and the official MV for Spring Day is a tribute to those lost. The song charted right away and has NEVER LEFT the charts to this day.

Hobi (far left orange suit) is first and foremost a rapper and dancer for the band, so him singing like this is such a treat. He acts as a "sub-vocalist" for the band so you only really hear his voice in the background or on a harmony, so getting to hear him sing front and center when they do this song live is such a treat.

This song was mainly written by RM, the guy with blue hair, as well as Suga, the guy with black hair and orange sunglasses. There are many interpretations for the lyrics, but the most prominent one for me is the feeling of loss of a friend (either due to distance or death). This song's music video is also based on a national tragedy that involved the deaths of hundreds of children (the Sewol Ferry Tragedy) so another way you could interpret the lyrics is to cope with loss and that even in Winter, the Spring day will always come around. It's a sad song to say the least lol. I started crying when I first heard the bridge and Tae's line "you know it all, you're my best friend."

I'm so glad to hear what you've said about boybands in the past because I think there's a lot of preconceptions about boyband music and creative control. BTS doesn't have a discography of cute lovey-dovey love songs that their label wants them to put out. Their musical roots are in hip hop and rap and the group are composed of producers and songwriters. Even though BTS is from Korea, I think a lot of people like me, had this stereotype of boybands based on our experiences here.

Exactly what does it gain any of you to deny that the song was inspired by a national tragedy that everyone should know about? RM's inspiration in that park wasn't just the leaves falling, it was what he was feeling, and it has been confirmed from their own mouths that it was about a particular tragic event. The time to be nitpicky has passed. Just let it go and let the message be spread. Your stubborn contradiction undermines the huge subversive effort BTS made during a time they could have been blacklisted.
@skyedestiny3 жыл бұрын
@@flyushkifly Because it has not been confirmed that the song itself is about that. Theories are fine, but they should not be taken as fact. The video is confirmed to be inspired by such events, and I don't doubt that the group approved that decision, as it's the final product that we all know. But there's a difference between speculation and fact. Also, just because the song itself isn't confirmed to be about that doesn't lessen the importance or impact of the tragedy, and it doesn't stop anyone from knowing about it.

Don't worry about not being able to read and listen and react at the same time. You'll learn. With time and regular exposure to Kpop, you'll learn. :) Also, yes. BTS have said several times that they have missed performing for ARMY terribly. These were very difficult times for them and they said that they cried a lot because they missed ARMY so bad. They really love us a lot. I love that you pointed out the storytelling aspect of a song. BTS are incredible storytellers and they have been ever since their debut. You also have to remember that there usually is another element to their performances that wasn't present here - dancing. They do have choreographies for most songs and they do use that element for storytelling as well.

Kia Ora. This is one of their most important works. When they are being critical of their government, institutions and matters of great importance, they'll often use metaphor and symbolism to get their message across. To criticize those in power has led to the demise of many artists and journalists. Although this song is about regret, sorrow and missing someone, it is linked to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. The mishandling of the situation, the cover up and corruption. They are poets, storytellers and artisans. By the way, it gets easier and faster to read closed captions with practice.

RM, one of the rappers, says that he came up with the melody for this song while taking a stroll through the park 🥺 As one of their songwriters, he, as well as the other members, has contributed to the creation of music on every single one of their albums. He’s a lyrical genius and is honestly so smart, philosophical, and introspective as you can see with many of their lyrics-he’s only 25, but he’s been writing music like this for BTS since they debuted 8 years ago! Also, while we’re on the topic of BTS’ debut, they just celebrated the eight-year anniversary of their debut a few days ago (June 12th) and even held a week-and-a-half “festival” called Festa; it’s not really a festival like how you may think, it’s more like a yearly celebration ARMYs all over the world can enjoy leading up to BTS’ anniversary where the group releases a BUNCH of new content like never-before-seen footage, new music for free, and special events and activities for ARMYs to participate in with the members. One of the things they released this year was a performance called BTS Room Live which was a lax “sit down” performance, much like this Tiny Desk Concert, where they performed an 8-minute medley of various songs they have released over the years. I think you would really enjoy it because obviously they sang incredibly well, but also because you’ll get to see a small sample of the MANY different styles their discography covers, and you’ll get a little sneak peek at their personalities in the fun ways they interact with each other during the performance. So cute, and so fun 💜💜💜 I really hope you watch it! Here’s a link to it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIPLm5ePqLOqd80 Happy listening! ARMY purples you 💜

RM and Suga are the primary lyricists for this song and they were inspired by their personal feelings of missing old friends; however, I believe they aimed to make the lyrics relatable for the emotional journey of loss in general regardless of the person or the reason. The music video that was made for the song contains many subtle references to a national tragedy in which hundreds of high school children died, and in that context is expressing the loss of a loved one due to death. Spring Day is considered the 'queen' of BTS's discography. Because it resonated so strongly with the Korean people after that national tragedy, it became extremely popular across all ages. It won Best Song the year it was released and has remained on the charts in Korea ever since.

Hi... yes it starts off as a sad song but BTS writes lyrics that generally turn things around with a lesson or some sort of positivity or hope. Also around the 5:13 mark, you start talking about how you can hear the track more than you can hear the voice of the one with full orange suit (rapper) with the red mic. I'm not actually sure what you're hearing but in case you couldn't tell, the guy with the orange jacket (vocals) and purple mic is actually harmonizing with him off camera. You can catch the tail end of him singing shown at 04:16.

Watch "FESTA 2021 BTS Live Room" to see a good sample of different songs from them. It's about a song per minute and then they change to another song. 😉

You're extremely pleasant to listen to. I've really enjoyed your reactions to the tiny desk concerts. And I got to talk to someone about larynx position that I've learned from the last video today and that was cool😆

RM wrote the lyrics for the song on day that he was in a park and was watching the leaves fall off the trees. Also the music video is very very special. Don't feel pressured to react to it on camera, but the MV is very artistic and quite important for South Korea. In 2014 there was a ferry accident that killed < 300 students and the government of SK tried to sweep it under the rag. The people however demonstrated and eventually they managed to impeach the government. So the lyrics can be also interpreted about missing someone that has passed. The story is very interesting but you do need context to understand it. The MV is beautiful regardless. It has all kinds of references like the film Snowpiercer, Omelas etc. ARMY has a very special place in their hears for this song. Feel free to look it up on your own time :)

BTS has so many live content. I hope you will do some others too, especially those that showcase their singing while dancing. BTS has also completed an online fan meeting (something like a concert) last weekend. It drew 1.33 mil paid streams earning the boys usd75mil in revenue. They beat the most paid stream record which they set themselves last year with their MOTS: ONE concert.

the person the far left (jhope) and the third person from left (jungook) were singing together. This is how it is in the original track as well. Here the camera doesn’t show jungook don’t know why tho.
