Hey Zoff, When you stopped at your local bait store, that was a nice cobia. They are excellent to eat. The trick is to anchor a little away from the structure and bring your grouper rod. Send a bait (a medium pinfish, sea bass or a 4" crab )to the bottom then bring it up about five feet or so and put the rod in the rod holder with the drag tightened down. Then start to sabiki up some bait. this will attract them and get them feeding. They will take you into the structure and break you off if you do not have your drag tightened down. As the water warms up (April, May, June) you will start to see more cobia gathering on structure and some of them get big. Oh yeah, don't bring them into the boat green. Made that mistake once. it about broke my buddies ankle.

Nice Snook fishing. Bet is felt good to not have to kayak all day. Not that kayaking is unpleasant, just a nice change for you.

love your vids not sure if you interested but the lady fish are in the thousands at the gandy bridge in case you ever wanted to do a lady fish vid for some reason. i have noticed they show up super thick there in the beginning of march the last couple of years you could use that shoelace trick. i could be something to do if the good fish aren't biting, i caught well over 100 last night from 7pm - 2am and they were still biting any lure i through when i was leaving, they are so thick there right now i dont think it maters what time you go there or the tides. i used a smaller one as bait on a large hook hoping for a monster cobia or shark no luck yet anyway love your vids and figured i share the hot spot for lady fish for anyone who might enjoy catching fish with lures easily

Great day on the water. Makes me wonder how DHS can have a security zone, yet still let some folks fish there. I have a colleague who has a permit to fish off the docks there. Between Manasota and MacDill, there are two great fishing spots the average Joe like me can get to with out the risk of being busted.

Enjoyed the video. I have seen quite a few videos featuring Snook. Everyone throws them back. Are they not good to eat or is it just a fish like the large mouth bass, that lots of people release to be caught another day because they fight so well?
@ReelGuyTv10 жыл бұрын
Them snook are making a serious comeback. Think next one I catch I'm taking him home. lol Been some years now of letting them go.

Marty, a while ago you gave us a teaser video of catching a bunch of bait fish. Is this the rest of the video from that day? I noticed the second trout you caught had a red mark on its back. Was that a leaf or did something bite it? Any way nice video.

Hey I have a question! why was that fish to big to keep?
@zoffinger10 жыл бұрын
Some fish are illegal to keep if they are too big. Reasoning is that the big ones all turn into breeders and are very important to keep the next generation of fish plentiful. I think the little 19 inchers taste better anyways.

why do so many americans use left handed reels? they cant all be left handed...
@nathanrieck21129 жыл бұрын
I dont really know, I'm right handed and cast right and the reel in with my left, I have a friend who is right handed and after he casts right he traded the pole into his left hand to reel with his right hand, seems weird to me, the way i do it feels natural
