I respect this level of nerdiness, haha. These thermoses kick ass!

Could you do another experiment with the thermos being used in normal operation (as in without a plug and temperature probe)? Something like: 1) 100C water in 2) Close the thermos normally without a probe 3) Wait for 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 or however many hours. 4) Open thermos, pour out liquid, measure temp 5) Repeat as necessary for each time variable factor level I'd be really interested to see whether there's a significant difference between normal operation of the thermos vs the heat lost due to the temperature probe and "improperly" blocked top. Also, the findings would more accurately reflect real world conditions.

The tough part is, the amount of heat lost by pouring out the liquid, or even opening the lid, would be many degrees and completely negate the experiment

@@LifestyleLab_ I know! I was interested in the real world applications of this rather than a lab environment. I recently bought a thermos for myself and am pretty happy with its performance. I was curious what the actual data would show in terms of heat loss through normal use because that is more relevant to me.

@@LifestyleLab_ Why "pour out the liquid"? Can't you measure the temperature of the liquid in the flask, after the allotted time period has elapsed? Why complicate things unnecessarily? Your experiment looks like it was concocted to utilise graphs and probes moreso than gather accurate data. What's the utility in measuring a thermos' heat retention properties without a sealed lid? Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? It's a bit like evaluating a domestic freezer's lowest temp with the door open. Complete fail.

@@space.youtube Hi Space Jockey. In the testing done for this video, no liquid was ever poured out of the thermos. In fact, the seal was never even broken over the course of the multi day test. This is the most accurate possible way to conduct a heat retention test, with a fully sealed vessel, and an internal probe recording real time results. How is this test not intended to collect accurate data like you implied?

@@space.youtube I suggest you watch the video... he never opened the thermos during the test you twat

@Lifestyle Lab, please, which device did you use to do this test and generate the graphics? I need to buy one of this type to run tests.

It was a Papouch ethernet temperature monitor/probe
