The only curse is the number of houses you need to buy to store all of the Kickstarter games. Asides from that it's not a curse!

1. Base game is good enough as it is. 2. You can expand it yourself without kickstarter. (adding a single necromancer mini can have a dramatic effect as I found out, the hard way). Rules for extra abominations or funny zombie types are available for free on zombicide site. 3. Some exclusives are good, but you definitely don't need all of them. See point number 1. 4. A lot of cool extra content for Black Plague and Green Horde (or Zombicide modern) is not kickstarter exclusive.

I came to the Zombicide party very late and picked up GH first (due to its lower price). I love these games! Thanks for producing this video, it was great! (EDIT: I did get in late on Invader at the Soldier level and I'm excited to get all of the extras even though I couldn't afford the second stand-alone expansion. I also backed Bloodborne and was shocked to see how much content does not come with the $90 pledge. I won't be spending $340 on a new game system, even if I loved the videogame on PS4).

Ahh, same here, got the Soldier pledge but not the second expansion - and it just arrived about a week ago. Have you played it yet?

I also came late to the zombicide party but I picked up pretty much what can be brought from retail, BP & GH. I also created and ran my own custom campaign with house rules of balancing items(vamp xbow), currency, light puzzles, random hero traits to create dimension. I don't think I miss out much missing the KS but I do look forward 2nd edition KS.

@@TabletopDungeon I didn't post online as it might not be thematic enough for Internet critics. Haha. Basically, I included some basic mechanics such as NPC drops random amt of gold which can be used to purchase or upkeep equipment for the next quest, and whenever a hero picks up an objective, there is a random chance of receving a quirk, such as 'heavy snorer' (gets 1 temp hp upon rest before next quest but party will need to roll check against those snores) or 'sloppy swings' each melee miss will count as melee attack on friendlies. This is make a stat block hero into a 1D hero.

I am sad to have missed out on the KS that could of added a lot of extra abominations and all though I am contemplating spending 100 dollars on the Undead & Alive KS just to get the 8 or so unique abominations to implement into Black plague and green horde. (Assuming that's possible) The bonus abominations in it do not have a hard set western theme aside from the Trickster, Windigo and Cactus.

Same, the abominations in Undead or Alive will work well for several Green Horde abominations (rules for which are online) including Vault Warden, Horde Brother, Swamp Lurker, Siege Breaker, and Were Zombie (Alpha Bane looks perfect for him).

i suppose it depends on how you play whether the retail only version is a good value or not . our group meets about once a month and we play a lot of different games . because of this it took us almost 2 years to play all the scenarios in Black Plague , and we've just started Wulfsburg . that's pretty good value as far as i'm concerned , and although we have the KS version , it doesn't really have much that makes the game any better . although having extra zombies always helps , we lost untold numbers of games due to extra activations from running out of one kind of zombie ! the real reason we buy the KS versions are the extra heroes , many of which are almost look alikes to movie and tv stars we like . in the end we find Zombicide to be one of the best group games out there , fun , even if you lose , and not requiring too much brain power to get through an evening with friends .

You're right, I don't think the extras in Horde/Black Plague make the game empirically any "better", but it certainly adds variation and choice, which can really help get players invested in the game rather than being stuck with that one character no one else wanted! That said, the different abomination types can really change how a game plays out with all their special rules.

Tell me about that nagging feeling...I couldn't agree more what you say about the kickstarter part. I found out about green horde last year and this april I got the retail version of it from my gf with the expansions. I knew it was a kickstarter game so I looked into it what am I missing. Well it hit hard after I saw how much was offered on ks. So I went to ebay and started buying horde box, ultimate survivor pack and bunch other sets. Only the horde box costed double if I had just bought the base game+both expansions+horde box from ks. To be clear Im not complaining, but if I had a chance to buy it at a retail price with available product, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it and probably their company see the money from it but this way they wont. It's strange that the biggest negative stuff about the game that you can't really buy espansions for a reasonable price. (Except for the trebuchet rule, yeah you kinda need to stuck to it with one character) Anyway very nice video and love your style.

Thanks for the kind words, and I'm really sorry you missed out there. Unless you're set on the fantasy theme, Zombicide kickstarters seem to arrive like clockwork, so you might be better waiting to get in on the inevitable next one. The modern remake has wrapped up, so it's entirely posible that a fantasy remake will be next...
