Training outside the protection of the fence is tantamount to suicide especially if it’s two rookies

There should be watchpeople outside the perimeter in barricaded houses, buildings etc who's job is to find trouble whether it's hordes or groups of people approaching, they don't have to engage anything themselves just observe

Remember, _none_ of these men were real soldiers. Kaufman just dolled up a few mercs and hoped it would make the civilians feel safe. When push came to shove, they all folded or cut n' run

The only soldier there was the Captain, the dude who was in charge of the Fiddler Security Force. He was shot in the head by Riley while chowing on some fellow mercs lol

The “soldiers” were basically the equivalent of mall cops (not dissing mall cops) and that’s what the guys in charge wanted competent enough to look the part of protector for the citizens but not competent enough to be a threat to the leaderships actual troops and power over the city, Competency of the movies fighter groups Kaufman personal tower guards Kaufman personal scavengers + normal scavengers Inner city guards (swat gear ones) Outer city/perimeter guards

Even if they still got their asses handed to them since they’re terrible soldiers, they still put up more of a fight than the soldiers in the base invasion scene in Fear the Walking Dead. God, that scene is so infuriating.

He's not the only actor that reappears in the other dead films, in Land of the dead, "Mike" the guy who gets his hand bitten at the store then shoots himself in the head, the actor is also in Diary of the Dead for which he played as "Tony". And the actor who plays the zombie "Butcher" with the meat cleaver has appeared in Dawn of the Dead(2004) and in Diary of the Dead. and lastly the actor who plays "Brian" in Land of the dead who was the kid, was also in Survival of the Dead which he played as "The Boy". These guys just love being in zombie films that's all. Also Land of the dead, diary of the dead, and survival of the dead do not take place in the same timeline. Only the original Night of the living dead, Dawn of the dead, and Day of the Dead.

@@Burstify Actually, Land fits the original trilogy, while Survival and Diary are a reset. The character in the latter two are one and the same. The one in this film is a different person altogether. DOn't forget Blades, the Savini character from Dawn is in this film as a zombie.

I like how they had a guard tower and the guy was dumb enough to rappel down to ground level where the zombies were. Sure getting trapped in a guard tower 20 feet up with a horde around you isn't fun but that tower looked a lot more sturdy than the chain link fence.

They should have had rooftop firing position(on the storage space) instead of just 7-8 feet high watch tower. So they could attack those zombies from the safe distance. And have half-dozen flamethrowers at the sentry post. To clean up that many ghouls, screen of fire is far more effective than bullets.

This part of the film I like, but also confuses me. So they have a small outpost here, but have almost no defenses for it? I think it was just supposed to be a makeshift motorpool, but this seems like day 1 of a zombie outbreak. Concrete barriers, mines, tripwires, those are kind of standard. This scene was basically remade in season 1 of Fear The Walking Dead.

Scene shows at least 50 zombies being shot behind the fence... Zombies bring down the fence and there is not a single zombie on the floor dead. Zombies slowly climbing over the fence.
