I just realized what this song is actually about. It's not about the zombie apocalypse like they use it for in pitch perfect 3. It's about the fight going on inside your own head and how you've become a zombie in that you don't want to try anymore, yet you still fight yourself and the demons inside. I really need to start using lyric videos more. Lol. Loved this one by the way!

Actually, its about the IRA and and how innocent people died in the terrorist attacks!! The cover changes 1916 to 2018 and guns to drones but the original song was a protest song about the conflict in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain.

It’s where the “Another child is slowly taken” is from. The song was mainly written after two young boys died in a bombing. One was two, one was 12. “It’s not me, it’s not my family” also relates to the racism that the Irish faced from the British. there’s a LOT more about it which you could probably find online but that’s stuff I remember off the top of my head because I adore the Cranberries and we studied protest songs in school once

SyreinaClaw That’s fair! I think we had a mini project about it in Year 7 (6th Grade) and then we studied protest songs on english last year. I think we only learnt about it because it was happening in the 80s in Britain, where I live so it wasn’t long ago and concerned our country.

It's fine that you didn't know in Britain they don't teach it either because they see it as a failure on their part since they didn't fully colonize Ireland and don't want to teach about their mistakes and a lot of irish and english people actually hate each other for those reasons too but some irish and english do get along(that's what my English friend said at least with the education part)
