A piece of spice to help out the land situation is to play karoo lands. They are valuable in “drawing” you lands when a lot of your card advantage is just getting zombies out of the graveyard instead of actual draw 2’s which draw towards mana. It lets you more consistently go up to gary, which is the best card in the deck, especially in multiples

Karoos have been very dangerous to play because of Ponza/Cascade, there's too many land spot removal cards being thrown around. I don't even play the lifegain duals anymore, just the artifact ones so I can withstand a few blows from Jund Cascade.

With the Goblin combo deck, you can wait until the Goblin persists, and then with first day of class on the stack you can kill it so it doesn't reanimate again.

I've got a paper version of this that I love to death, but I think it plays better without the Garys and fewer Gempalm Polluters. Radiant Fountain and Vampire's Kiss helps keep my lifetotal above my opponents while I tap Shepard of Rot every turn for damage. Changeling Outcast is also a great 1 drop for the aggro approach!
@devangoad2 жыл бұрын
Vampires kiss is dope there, also it turns the blood tokens into actual card advantage since getting zombies out of the yard is crazy easy.

20 lands in a 60 card deck is going to result in a 0-or-1 land opener about 25% of the time (for 24 lands, it would be 15%). That's like playing 13 lands in a 40-card limited deck (as compared to the default 17). This isn't a Xerox-cantrip deck, and is a deck that (even with its low-average CMC) wants to deploy a fair amount of mana's worth of cards -- including by often immediately using the two cards you Ghoulcaller's Chant back, or immediately deploying the cards drawn off Village Rites. It even has a 5-drop in it (one which can be a big part of a stabilization plan, even). The Barren Moors is also a strange inclusion -- the most straightforward use of cycling-lands is to be *able* to run *high* land-count, as cycling-lands mitigate flood. Here, they're primarily lands that enter tapped when you need lands (in addition to doing collateral damage to Defile and Priest of the Haunted Edge). Rather than few lands, what it probably needs is something to use excess mana for, and/or be more full control and get draw (even with a non-Zombie like Thorn of the Black Rose). Shepard of Rot does provide inevitability, and Lazotep Reaver (especially being returned and replayed) is good at defense.

I loved gempalm polluter and shepard of rot back in onslaught standard. Super nostalgic for me.

Really like the art on Gempalm Polluter. Reminds me of 80s era Iron Maiden

your content is so good man, whenever I see a good line that you're not mentioning you just think and talk through possible lines until you hit the best one which some times is mine some times is even one that I didn't think about even tho I have a looot of xp in pauper. If you ever wanna revisit zombies you could look at strength of the night which is an awesome bg zombie only overrun
@rickymackie23402 жыл бұрын
possible that with such a minimal amount of card advantage that you might really need the 22 or 23 lands to minimize mulligans

He went stuck with 6+ lands in a lot of decks Not something that an aggro deck is wanting to do

This decks looks really cool. I played a lot of priest of the haunted edge in standard, since it was one of the few ways to answer the big treasure dragon without feeding your opponent treasures.

Love it. I play a lot of Premodern and Zombies is a solid aggro deck there. Shepherd of Rot and Gempalm Polluter produce a strong clock.

I love to see tribal decks in pauper, since most tribal synergies are in higher rarities. Unless is priest of titania, for some reason, someone at wizards though it was an ok magic card, no even at uncommon

Nice vid mate! This deck actually makes me want to play Pauper again. But I got to many sweet Penny Dreadful brews to get working on to ever get back into Pauper for real. PD is the wild west of MTG, it's a never ending source of new frontiers (except when Channel is legal).

Infernal Caretaker can give you back lots of zombie late game helping win those pesking grinds and if they didn't counter the morph creature they can't react to the morphing.

Without cantrips i like to run 23-24 lands to make sure lands happen. Karoo lands help, but I don’t like drawing multiples early (not to mention the forced mulligans when you open a hand with two karoos) and when you need to draw them as a part of your plan and you don’t it’s exactly like not running enough lands. I prefer to run a single karoo (can never open a hand with two ;) ) to take advantage of other lands valuable effects (gain 1 life/ exile a graveyard/ put a skyfisher on top of the library)
@devangoad2 жыл бұрын
Deadly dispute is just flat out better than village rites, imagine top decking rites on an empty board/ maybe even you just want to keep your creatures around. They both only effectively cost one mana and village rites doesn’t ramp you.

Honestly think orignal list, or at least original game plan edited list , would've worked nice to contantly loop removal. Maybe its just my preference of playstyle but when you were looping removal the deck seems to be really strong.

Carrion feeder is a powerful card, but as you mentioned it does seem like a bit of a nonbo with the rest of the deck. not a lot of appealing zombie pauper one drops :/
