There are many things we can do to conserve water. Lawn removal or reduction can certainly be one way. However, if you’re in a HOA and required to have some lawn, these tips can help you water more efficiently thereby reducing water usage.

My water audit had an average of 0.2inches per 15 minutes of runtime in my first zone. This means that I’m only getting about 0.8inches per hour. To get the full inch of water I will have to run this zone for 75 minutes divided into 2 or 3 soak cycles (to prevent runoff). If we have had less than an inch of rain I can reduce the total runtime by subtracting the amount still needed to reach 1 inch of water. If we’ve had an inch of rain I can skip lawn irrigation for that week.
