For the people who wants portrait mode on their s8 you can download the google pixel camera it's buggy but at least you get the hdr+ and the portrait mode on the front and on the back.

Perfect camera comparison! I prefer the S8+ in a lot of situations. By the way, you can use something like the "portrait mode" in the S8+ front camera, you should choose an option called "selective focus" ;)

Great comparison, but if i'm not mistaken, the galaxy S8 and s8+, do have software to make digital blur on the background of both cameras, the front facing and back camera. Its called selective focus.

S8 has 1.7f aperture.. And yeah, you actually can shoot portrait with both front and rear cameras on close distance on S8/S8+. Its called selective focus and works fine in daylight with selfie camera 😘

My only comment would be my interest is specifically in sound quality in high volume level situations (up front, shooting concerts) as this is one area I've had a lot of problems with many phones and why actually here seeking comparisons.

This is really in-depth. I'm upgrading today and the s9 plus is way more expensive than the s8 plus here in South Africa and my choice was based on the camera as I take a bunch of pictures. So I'm confident that I won't really be missing out on that much by getting the s8 plus. Thank you so much for such a well structured and certainly detailed video.

With the galaxy s8 + there isn't a portrait mode but it has the selective focus option and it can be used for portraits! You should try it!

I've got a S9+ and I'm kinda satisfied with it's camera. Maybe the unit that you got had some software issues on videos, 'cuz, honestly, the videos of this monster are incredible good (including stabilization). The only thing I really don't like about the camera is the front facing one. A lot of smothering, leak of sharpness. Anyway, good video!

S8 is not too far interms of quality output photos but more oftenly much better.. Correction in ur video s8 has 1.7 not 1.8 aperture :)

Special features on s9 are better, However, I believe if Samsung would release firmware updates focusing on s9 camera software, think it could be(would be) SO much better. But will they do that, most likely not, Samsung doesn't even release Android updates often, if ever. A shame......if they supported there software OS like Apple does, & ALLOW us( end user) to remove the bloatware we don't want, the Galaxy Flagships would be a Ballin' sick phone!
