The S9 has way too much HDR processing, it removes shadows when there should be shadows, so in some regards, it's less authentic than the S7/8. But I'm glad they have toned down the saturation a bit.
@Awaks6 жыл бұрын
Zac Kirstein It's just having lighter shadows than the others....which actually equates to more of how they actually look at the scene....S7s & S8s pretty much did what the Pixel 2s do right now with shadows, and even colours most of the time. It's only a problem when one of the two does it tho...apparently
@zackirstein92336 жыл бұрын
At 3:01 the S9 is undeniably overprocessing the photo with HDR, there is significantly less contrast than the S7/8 because of it, which is a common characteristic of overdone HDR. Therefore for that set of photos, the S8 is likely the most accurate in representing the scene true to form. But yeah at 1:59 the S9 does a good job in capturing more details in the shadows under the bridge.

Shadows may not be as great, but if making great video is important to you like it is for my automotive DE Nichols channel, then I need the S9 over the others. The stabilization was amazing. Granted, most of the time when I'm manually running a camera even without stabilization I can make tolerable video from lots of experience, but if I'm tired I'm not as smooth and great stabilization from the camera to make up for that could save some shots which otherwise may have felt useless.

Thanks for the comparison of the 3 cameras. Samsung did a decent job with the s9 but to me it is too often over-exposing the shot leading to the softer pictures that you mentioned. I'm also surprised they didn't give the S9 a bump in pixels to, say, 16mp just for the sake of making things seem superior to prior offerings...I would imagine that people grasp the benefit in increased MP over the change in lens aperture. Overall the S9 is the way to go in my opinion but Samsung didn't do enough to warrant paying almost $1000 to upgrade unless you are still using an S5 or S6.

S8 in my opinion looked a lot better in this video. I actually prefer the colors to pop out a bit more than being all faded. It also depends on what the focus that one is going for, which I think the video failed to show any focal point at all and lacked some other features. It only focused on general day and night pictures that utilized a bit more things on the inanimate objects. Wished this video showed people, the focus, the ease of use for the panorama, the food photo function, etc... Just a lot of general point-and-shoot pictures which doesn't show each phone in full comparison.

S7 is the winner: 1. Takes more vibrant pictures during the day time 2. Did not like S8 in low light because of the weird noise. S9 in day light is crazy bright for my liking. 3. Price-value ratio of S7 is much better comparing to that of S9. You can get a used S7 in mint condition for dirt cheap comparing to S9. S7 is still quite powerful and should be able to do anything you need. To be fair, I have to admit that S9 has a better stabilization in videos, better low light pictures but is also much much more expensive. Therefore, get yourself a used mint condition S7 for the fraction of the price of S9 and be happy ;-)
