The Note 8 has *exactly* the same camera module as the S8. Same sensor size, same aperture, same sensor specs. The only difference being the Zoom Lens which I haven't covered thoroughly in this video, for this very reason. If you really want me to do a Note 8 vs iPhone X - I can do that, but the results would be identical, apart from 2 more Chapters in the video - Telephoto Lens Photo/Video in Day-Time & Low Light.

From what I've seen, Samsung has updated the post processing on the Note 8 camera, so while the results would be similar, they would not be identical. There have been some adjustments (for the better with the note 8).

At the end of the day, considering that.we are talking smart phones, the differences are hardly noticeable. I would imagine that if the winner of this was a deal breaker this typical user wouldn’t be thinking Sammy vs iPhone but probably Nikon vs Cannon. I think if any of the test pics were placed in front of your average user, they would all impress. .

I have both the galaxy s8 and the iphone x . When it comes to camera i think the galaxy s8 is doing better than the iphone x cause the clarity and the image quality is retained soo clearly in galaxy s8 when zoomed in whereas the iphone x does not.But for the portraits effects the iphone x is doing a good job. The galaxy s8 is even more better than the iphone x in the low light camera. I wish that apple would have used micro pixels as in galaxy s8, it would have been awesome.. Btw i prefer the galaxy s8 for camera expect for the portrait mode.

this is why I never use Auto mode... theres a reason why theres a Pro mode with RAW output. Plus on the S8 did he even use HDR? Because you complain about dynamic range a TON, and I do not see this issue with a S7.

1) Iphone X has 6 months of developing time more than s8. Infact, in 4-5 months there will be the s9. 2) Iphone has the burn effect with the anterior camera, compared also to pixel 2 xl, and bad stabilization too 3) You need to compare the iPhone to the note8 , both have a dual camera

As with most photography the matter is subjective. There is also the fact that fans of Samsung are wired to think they are better and vice-versa. The picture and video on the iPhone gave MUCH better colour reproduction even in the low light situation. All the other factors seem to b e down to how the phone processes the picture. Maybe Samsung do too much processing. You can always adjust the pictures to your own taste afterwards using one of the many apps available.

2019 update: S8 and Note 8 got 720p 480 fps super slow mo via software updates and they also support 4k 60 fps video recording with a little trick, named LG Camera. The amount of detail is insane compared to stock 1080p 60 fps camera. Hope that helps, I love my S8

The images that both phones produce are so volatile and unpredictable, that it's hard to make real judgement. I've seen videos where the s8 was blitzing the iPhone x on rear camera shots on the majority of the comparisons. So yeh, it's one of those....

I am s8+ user. To be honest,I prefer almost Iphone X color in the daytime in AUTO MODE than s8 except for some pics. But you know there is pro-mode on both phones .so imo if you guys once get to used to s8, you can get nice pic or vid cuz s8 has less noise and better brightness because of better F number and something that makes brighter and shaeper at night. If i have chance to get a new phone, i definitely get s8+

I used to be a iOS fan. But the night view looks too awful which I can't aceept. I got my s8+ today and i found that there is a pro mod which can actually make the exposure for like 10s. With a tripod for 30$. I can take incredible city night view pictures.

The iPhone x was really good with making the colors look natural with clear backgrounds, but I like the s8s sharpness and wide angled camera,I think you can edit your pictures so maybe saturation isnt the problem and I just think the iPhone x is too overpriced ...so I'm gonna go for something simple with good quality . Raine Brookshire u can't save an overprocessed photo... oversharpening is hard to improve and oversaturation, well results will not be good alsoif u edit in photoshop for example... But u can do the opposite so the iPhone wins here

Great analysis, it comes down to comparing them in specific aspects rather than judging them as a whole. I would be happy with either cameras on the phones. You should try testing the new Huawei and the Pixel 2. I'm curious how big of an advantage the neural processing has in real-world uses.

Tbh dynamic range is king, you can add some of the processing Samsung uses to the iPhone photos afterwards. I prefer the iphone but all the phones this year have amazing cameras and it’s pretty much a tossup.

I love my S8 and I relay like its camera. It has the best front camera I ever seen and its back camera is decent. But when it comes to videos iPhone X is clearly the winner. As well the images with the iPhone are mutch realistic. I am a Android fan and I never bought an iPhone because OVERALL I DONT LIKE IT. BUT in this case I clearly would chose the iPhone. Wrong, the only way to tell the real estate of the footage quality is providing the original footage file for download, because youtube adds compression and processing to the original video, no matter if you render in highest quality possible. Apart from that, great review, complete and accurate.

The front facing camera of iphoneX is much better in terms of width, colors and audio but in low light conditions, the S8 is definitely the winner. When is comes to the back facing camera, it's hard to say who's the winner, it really depends on our personal preferences. I would prefer Galaxy S8 rather than iphoneX for details, vibrating colors, stabilization and auto-focusing speed. And as always, a perfect review and a big thumbs up !

For the front facing video daylight, I think the iPhone X wins on both fronts. The warmer tones and much better audio. For the front facing video low light, I think the Samsung wins on video quality, but the iPhone still wins audio. PS - loving my iPhone X! Preordered through Sprint and received it on Nov 3rd!!

We have S8+, and they take amazing photos and video. Keeping it on 'auto' settings you're really cheating yourself out of a good photo experience. You're either an Apple person or Samsung, either way, the S8 is more affordable, and not having to deal with ios interface is easier.

Now even s8 can record 4k@60fps. What else I want? I was about to get s9 just because of this frame rates but XDA development team saved my 750 bucks by enabling 4k @60fps on s8 that too on Exynos Variant. Not willing to upgrade until s10 or something like note 10 with 4k displays that would be amazing and insane. Anyway really good and detailed comparison.
