Thank you SO MUCH for making such an incredibly thorough camera shootout. Well edited, amazingly produced. Wow. Just great work, man and thank you for all the time you put into make this. Personally going with the 8 Plus instead of the X. Don't want my TouchID gone and the new OLED screens on the X just aren't so easy on the eyes (lots of owners returning due to headaches and eye strain). Hopefully the second gen is better :).

Hey Daniel. I found that although the iPhone X has better quality photos/video, you also have to take into account the size of the "viewfinder" screen while you're taking the photos/videos -- it's a LOT smaller on the X rather than on the 8 Plus. In real world use, that makes a significant difference and makes the X screen seem as small as a regular 8. What do you think?

Good comparison. I was really expecting the 10 to have to upper hand in low light due to processing, but I was very surprised how close they were. That's good for owners of the 8 Plus (like us!). However, another professional photographer and I did a photo shootout this past weekend in a dark jungle-themed restaurant (Rainbow Cafe). We were with a group of ten and everybody had different phones including the iPhone 8 Plus (no Galaxy S9 though), and you know which one came out on top with better color, exposure, and detail? The HTC U11. Yeah, I was surprised too.

You take the picture and then it depends on the screen you have to reproduce the shot. iPhone X reproduces the pictures and videos with true blacks (by turning pixels off) and color with the OLED. iPhone 8 Plus might get close to true blacks and colors with the IPS-LCD without the risk of burn-in.

Let this sync up in your mind the iphone xr has an lcd panel and an iphone 4 resolution and costs 850€ 64gb while samsung s6 edge (competitor to iphone 6) has an Amoled panel with 1440p resolution and costs 150-250$ maximum at 64 gb

It doesn’t matter anyone who would spend any extra money to get the iPhone X’s camera is stupid because the differences are so small that the results are inconclusive. In fact, some looked better on the 8 Plus. Either way both great cameras, but practically identical.

Great video, but using your footage, I would choose the 8Plus over the X. The panorama shot is what sold it, as the water looked sharper on the 8plus. Thanks for the video. And I'm wondering how a professional photographer who is well versed in IOS and knows how to utilize the proper techniques to get great shots would view the cameras. Maybe you can do a video with that in mind. Do you know any pro-photographers? Have a good one, and I love your videos btw. It's a SHAME that the iPhone X has such a horrible camera. I mean, most of the shots taken with 8 Plus and 7 Plus are better than the X. I just bought the X and I'm kinda disappointed now... Let alone low light photos where the shots are just AWFUL. C'mon! It's a 1300€ phone!!!! I'm so pissed.

Tell me, how do you download a video from iPhone to KZbin? At me iPhone X and at loading directly from mobile on youtube through to share always the quality gives out no more than 360 though it is written down in 1080, also at loading on a computer limits quality.

Portrait mode is better on the X. The 8+ back facing camera makes portraits look a bit caricature-ish.

I'm sorry Daniel but this is is not the right way to review these two particular products. Of course the wide angle lenses are going to be almost identical. Most of the differences are not because of the phone itself but because of small differences in angle and placing which in turn result in exposure and dynamic range differences. What's much more important is the Telephoto lenses where you should have focused on at least in more than half of the video and provide many more samples to really discern differences. Is it sharper on the X? Is it less noisy? In some samples I notice a bit less zoom in on the X (could be due to shorter zoom lens or maybe larger sensor?) No one on youtube seems to have noticed. Are you guys blind? You pixel peep on stuff that doesn't really matter but can't notice this? Lastly and MOST IMPORTANTLY: does the digital zoom issue that iPhone 7 Plus and 8 Plus have happen less often with the new aperture and OIS? These are things that matter to me and should matter to anyone who takes lots of pictures with a 1000 dollar phone. Could you please make a video focused on the Telephoto lens performance on stills and mostly in low light scenarios?

Atwa Jesper try to take a picture at a very very dark scene using 2x zoom. Then cover only the telephoto lens with your finger. You’ll se that the image is unaffected and doesn’t turn black. That’s because iPhone 7 plus and 8 plus use the wide angle lens when you zoom in very low light scenarios, and apply a 2x digital zoom. That’s because the wide angle lens can gather more light because of it’s wider aperture while the zoom lens’s glass is far worse and would probably perform worse. Still digital zoom sucks.

I mean, digital zoom sucks but they found a way around that situation taking into account that it's not a DSRL camera where you can change lenses.

Had to watch at 60fps on my iphone 7 because my wifi sucks (i use the KZbin++ app so i can choode my quality over service) i prefer the 7 over the 8, but the X is pretty sexy… i might switch for the X after i finish my last few payments on my 7, but… the note and s8, seem prettt nice too… especially since ive gotten hands on on the X and the screen does seem a little bit dimmer then the 7… the lcd, its odd…
