Stevie, Zoo Knoxville's newest chimpanzee, is beginning to crawl, working on sitting up and getting her first tooth any day now.

The mother is there at that prison they call the zoo and, as always, they stole the baby from its mother under the usual "the mother wasn't bonding" with the baby lie. These people will stop at nothing to take babies from their mothers just so they can have two or three years of video material. It's disgusting and DISGRACEFUL!!

Her mother passed out after the birth and needed medical intervention. She was unable to nurse Stevie or care for her. The zoo staff took over until mom was ready for her baby back.

Why is it at the zoo’s that the babies are taking the babies away from the mum. They are not the mum. It is horrifying to think he or she was torn from mum. That causes a traumatic experience for them but then again I think zoos should be shut down these beautiful animals need to be free and live the life they were ment to have

Yeah they totally shouldn't breed the chimps if they don't know how to take care of a baby chimp, okay perhaps the mother died but to raise a chimp like this with humans is cruel, specially as the baby is usually constantly with their mother.

I am not even going to get into some of these comments…jeez. but I would have liked this video to answer some basic questions like 1. why wasn’t she raised by her mother. There must have been some facts for this decision, medical and behavioural facts. 2. what efforts were made to enable her mother to raise her? As it stands, it tells us nothing more than ‘ooh cute’.
