Baby chimp laughs for the first time in adorable video

The cute video was filmed at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore on November 3 and shows Maisie the baby chimpanzee playing with human baby toys and giggling with a wide grin at carers, who give her a tickle under her arms. Baby chimp Maisie was born at the Oklahoma City Zoo in late August but moved to Maryland Zoo to be hand-reared after her birth mum rejected motherhood. She is due to be paired with a surrogate chimp mum - but for now is being given round the clock care by zoo keepers.

Primates are one of the weaker mammals at the infant stage because it takes longer than average to develop in order to defend themselves(no claws or any real defense for a longer period vs other animal types so its not surprising. Its just we have been taught for so long we are the only ones who have most qualities we have when the difference is pretty much the brain and years of losing hair and the ability to climb well from lack of use in our branch of evolution. I feel like it is very fascinating that we can see for our own eyes through online media.

They can be up to ten-times stronger than a full-grown man when grown. They can beat a human to paste and bite off anything they get their mouths around. They cannot be safely managed as pets, and should be left alone in the wild. They're every bit as dangerous to keep as pets as it is cruel to poach these creatures. Few people actually buy these illegally in the West. It will cost at least $100,000, but sell as much as $500,000. Get one that already is acclimated to being a domestic pet but is still fairly young, at that point they can’t go back into the wild but yet they still need a home. A lot of people get babies and realize they can’t handle it and adopt them out while they are still pretty young. You can provide that home for one in need

She is so precious, I am so blown away at how human like monkeys are, One thing I do want to say, is that sometimes, when it comes to being tickled, people assume because the ticklee is laughing that they are enjoying it, but there is a point where the tickling becomes painful and uncomfortable, it’s just a natural response to laugh even when it becomes painful and uncomfortable

She is just beautiful. It's so sad to think about her momma rejecting her. I guess it's the same as humans, sometimes it just doesn't work. It's wonderful that there are surrogates. That will be her momma even though they didn't actually give birth to her. Have a happy life little Maisie 💓🐒

I was a Nightwatchman at the Cleveland Zoo for 30 years,and before my daughter was born I learned to change diapers on a baby chimp named Mookie. They're adorable when they're babies, but I literally had reoccurring nightmares of adult chimps escaping. When they grow up, they're smart, strong and crazy.
