*Question of the Episode: What is the first zoo or aquarium exhibit that blew your mind?* Even though I have seen more exhibits that eventually made a greater impact on me, the first time I was ever blown away by an exhibit was the Serengeti Safari at Busch Gardens. Since it was only my third zoo ever, I couldn't comprehend the size of the savanna because it's literally the same size as my local zoo. Back then, the Plains were so much more plentiful than they are now, and thus created more chances to have close up encounters. The Giraffes are a given, but an eland nearly stuck its horns into the truck-bed, and the main highlight was when a mother rhino and her calf started running after the truck. *Monterey Bay Aquarium Part One:* kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIiVeYqkrtGSr5o *Open Sea Species List* 1. In my opinion, the first exhibit that amazed me has to be the big kelp forest at the Aquarium of the Pacific. It amazes me when I first seen how tall it is and what fishes are in it. And it still amazes me Everytime I visit there. I have very fond memories at this Aquarium.

The exhibit that blew up my mind must be the Oakland Zoo's bat exhibit. It's the only facility I know that cares for bats here in the Bay Area.

Not a single exhibit, but the first that I remember which really took me in was the entire Oceanarium at Shedd's Aquarium when I was rather young, it was the year it opened up though later in the year (and, thankfully, middle of the day during the week due to a trip there when my school had an odd spring break schedule for the year, so not as much in the way of the insane crowds they'd had then).

The first exhibit that blew my mind? Aw man, that is a toughie. If I had to pick one, I'd go with the Dolphin Dome at the Indianapolis Zoo. I choose that one because when I first visited the zoo, I found myself not wanting to leave because it was so much fun watching and photographing the dolphins, and how they were interacting with zoo volunteers. That said, I know there are other exhibits that've blown my mind, including the Open Sea exhibit from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but the Dolphin Dome was the first one I could think of. Speaking of Monterey Bay Aquarium, when I visited the Open Sea exhibit, I was amazed by how huge the exhibit was, and the amount of creatures housed within the tanks. I loved looking at the many species of jellies, some of which I don't remember seeing before, and the large tank with the sea turtles, dorado, yellowfin tuna, and the hammerhead sharks was awe-inspiring. I didn't see any sunfish or great white sharks, but what I did see during that trip was already awesome enough.

I remember seeing a PBS Nature episode on the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the most memorable momment from that was learning about the Great White Sharks. It's a shame we won't be seeing anymore, but there are many other amazing sea creatures that make up for it. Sunfish, Dolphin Fish, and even Tuna! These are all species on my must see list, and I'm even more determined to pay a visit to this beautiful Aquarium one day. This area looks like something out of Blue Planet! Looking forward to our remaining tour of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, see ya in the next one!

The first zoo exhibit I saw that genuinely blew my mind has to be Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I know it’s not your favorite, Zach but I must admit that I’m a sucker for African themed exhibits. The first aquarium exhibit I saw that blew my mind is without a doubt the Ocean Voyager at the Georgia Aquarium. Keep up the great work @ZooTours.

The first zoo exhibit that blew my mind is the Columbus Zoo’s Asia Quest, not only that I work there but I’ve been going there since I was little and when Asia Quest opened back in 2006, it blew my mind because it was the first beautiful and naturalistic zoo exhibit I laid my eyes on and plus seeing new species of animals I’ve haven’t seen before and really cool encounters especially seeing the langurs moving all over the place, rare species of deer and birds, the sun bears were very interesting to see before the sloth bears took over, cute and cuddly red pandas and my favorite part of all, we were at the glass viewing for the Amur Tigers for the first time and we were having lunch and while we were eating, one of the tigers came up to the glass and wanted to spend with us for lunch, ever since then Asia Quest was always my favorite and first zoo exhibit that blew my mind.

I would say this aquarium’s Open Sea exhibit is actually the first exhibit that blew my mind. I’d never seen a million gallon tank before when I first visited at 7, and they had their 2nd great white at the time. It was an incredible experience.

I totally can’t wait for the into the deep exhibit because it was originally going to be a non permanent exhibition however with how much people loved it and how much research was put into it it has stayed as a permanent exhibition and what I mean by research is they have breaded animals that you would see in the depths of the ocean and they have also discovered new species of deep sea living creatures.

Just discovered your videos and have been binging them! Love to see a fellow zoo enthusiast. I grew up near the Monterey Bay Aquarium and went every few years. So I was lucky enough to see two of the white sharks on exhibit and I was also able to see the famed sunfish that grew so large it had to be airlifted out! I was a kid when I saw it, but I remember it being nearly as tall as the window into the tank. One thing that I noticed on my most recent visit, is that the open sea tank doesn't have as many sharks as it used to. I talked to a docent who said there were originally five hammerheads and they have all been aging out. There used to be another type of shark in the Open Sea exhibit although I don't remember what it was (besides the white shark). The docent didn't know if there were plans to bring in more sharks, because permitting for capturing wild sharks is challenging and the expensive. I used to love the sardine exhibits where they go around in a circle, but on my most recent trip I started to wonder how going in one direction forever might impact their muscles- over strengthening one side and atrophying the other. I also wonder if it might be detrimental to their emotional health - certainly it is not very enriching. When you compare the sardines going in a circle versus the ones in the Open Sea and in the Kelp Forest exhibits, the ones with the ability to shift and change constantly would likely have a better life. I'm wondering if these circular exhibits, although visually breathtaking, are ready to become a thing of the past. And to answer your question, the first exhibit that blew my mind was probably the Kelp Forest!

I had lived in the monterey area as well some time ago. The last time I went to the MBA was in the 90's. I have noticed they dont have as many sharks as they used to in that exhibit. I believe the sharks that they had in the past in Open Seas were Oceanic Whitetip and Blue Shark.

The first exhibit that made me really drop my jaw, was The Oceanarium at The North Sea Oceanium here in Hirtshals, Denmark. They have this really big and cool tank, actually Northern Europe's largest tank, with everything from the stunning mola-mola (Which is kept at all times), atlantic mackerel, small spotted catshark. and many more fantastic fish, rays and others shark species, what was really stunning was the humongous size with 72x108 ellipse shaped tank which is 26 feet deep, and contains 1.188.774 gallons of water from the Northsea!

Ok so I've only ever been to our local zoo and animal kingdom... and by that I mean I was to little to remember Columbus or the wildlife safari and we're 2 poor now. Such is life But I remember being absolutely baffled by the change of the old aquarium in the Toldeo Zoo to the new one we have now. and I wish I had better photos of the old one to compare. I actually got to see sonme of the behind the scenes of the new aquarium being built thanks to my school program. It was reeally cool! But there IS 1 room in particular in the old aquarium I miss and I don't remember like...what all was in it....I just remember it was always the most soothing part of the aquarium cuz it had lower lighting without being dark and as someone who oft ends up with a headache it was very nice.
