The zoo is planning to renovate the monorail area into a new Safari exhibit. You can find that on their website under Future Of The Zoo.

Hi Zach, I found a video from the San Diego Zoo. It says that the hippos have gone back to their renovated habitat in the Ituri Forest. Please do a video on this exhibit. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZnPlYepf91-l5I

Great start to Dallas Zoo, Zach! My dad and I were there in September 2020 and my favorite parts of Wilds Of Africa were the cheetah, gorillas, Nile crocodiles, hippos, and the okapi. To answer your question: I’m running straight to the lions at my zoo when it opens. Morning is the best time to see them active and hear them roar too. Can’t wait to join the next tour and already excited for Giants Of The Savanna! Stay wild, Zach!

I've never been on the monorail, so I'm excited to see the future walking trail. It will give visitors the chance to stop and watch the animals as long as they wish as supposed to the monorail that I assume was constantly moving.

The Dallas Zoo is my local zoo, and naturally we start in the Wilds of Africa every time. Technically we chill with the lemurs and the Aldabra tortoises first with stops at the penguins and cheetah after that, but from there it's straight to the lions! Cormorants and Mandrills...brings back memories.

I probably sound like a broken record but great video, Zach. The animals I’m running to at my local zoo are the elephants and lions. Keep up the great work.

Loved the tour! I have pretty mixed feelings on the exhibit as a whole but Wilds of Africa does have some outstanding enclosures like the Okapi, Hippopotamus, and Gorillas. Speaking of Gorillas I think their Enclosure/complex is fantastic. I never understood why it gets so much hate online. All of the different view points, the lushness of the enclosures, and the overall design is very well done!

I also love aviaries. I remember walking through the hummingbird and butterfly aviaries in the Sonoran Desert Museum. I like the bird aviaries as well, but those were amazing…the colors alone. And I learned hummingbirds can be quite aggressive about protecting their nests, lol.

Not an animal, but definitely an exhibit! The Northern Trail at the Minnesota Zoo is an amazing experience. My personal favorite there has always been the black bears, but everything about that trail is incredible and makes me so happy to be a Minnesotan.

Wowsers! If you're gonna visit the Omaha Zoo & Aquarium again, visit the African Grasslands attraction! And visit the San Francisco Zoo sooner or later! Also, here are 7 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend, Zak... 1) What year did the Oakland Zoo build a new enclosure for the Hamadryas Baboons? 2) How many years ago did the San Francisco Zoo originally house both colobus monkeys, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, patas monkeys, lion-tailed macaques, tamarins, & siamangs? 3) What was the name of the lone blackbuck that was living in the San Francisco Zoo many years ago? 4) How many new African Elephant friends do you expect Osh to have at the Oakland Zoo? 5) What are the names of the 2 hippopotamuses that are back in the Ituri Forest attraction of the San Diego Zoo? 6) What year did the San Francisco Zoo's original male Komodo Dragon, Bahasa, passed away after a recent back surgery? 7) How many years ago did the San Francisco Zoo's old female black rhinoceros, Elly, live before she passed away from old age? And the first animals that I saw at my local zoo are birds, giraffes, zebras, & antelopes! Leaping Unaysaurus!🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘

I think part of the reason for that egg-laying hut (for the penguins) being elevated like that is possibly for enrichment, to encourage the penguins' natural climbing and hopping behaviors. And then their muscles stay strong, and they’re not just sitting, walking or swimming the same all the way. If they really want to get up there, they’ll find a way and jump, possibly from the side or something. Many of the non-Antarctic (and some Antarctic) penguin species kinda far inland, such as the Magellanic penguins. They hop into the forest, risking predation from pumas, foxes, raptors, cats, dogs, etc., but then take the creeks and rivers back down the mountain, like a waterslide transport.
