This one made a major shift mid wear, from a bright spring day to a Christmas at Hogwarts. Magic stuff.

Just smelled this… absolutely incredible. I’m drooling. Smelled probably 20 fragrances before this, and they were mostly good, some amazing. But this? Can’t even find the words-it’s that good

I was able to get my nose on this the other day and haven’t been able to get it off my mind, it was very a very interesting fragrance to say the least. The opening was a bit much for me, but I will say the dry down is very pleasant and warm to me. I will for sure be re visiting this soon!

I was sent a sample of this with my SeaHorse purchase a few months back. It's a very interesting scent. The Intial spray is very pungent, however it turns very lovely quickly.

I’ve been waiting on this review. The aldehyde was really unexpectedly strong, but in a great way. I was sad it didn’t last a bit longer on my skin, but still a fantastic release and a worthy purchase.

Sacred Scarab was pleasant, as was Bat, but they didn't last on me as long as Cardinal, Elephant, and Squid did. I've only tried 5 fragrances from this house but I have all the samples, so there are lots more to go through. So far, I'm very impressed. I have a feeling I may like them all.

Been loving this one. Had to get a bottle when my sample ran out. I think the musky floral finish has this charming old school character, and the opening is very bright and happy. The more I sample Zoologist the more I like them. I have Camel and Squid and last night I tried Rhinoceros and love that too. I need to stop for my wallets sake.

Can't wait to try this. Sultan's work is amazing, truly second to none. Anyone who hasn't picked up a sample set from him definitely needs to get on that! It's a great deal & the most eye-opening sample set in the entire perfumery game, IMO.

Please forgive me for lacking awareness, but how do we pick up a sample set of Sultan’s work? I absolutely want to try this one but also want to try others he’s created! Thx!

I came across a blue lotus absolute years ago form a local perfumer and I fell in love with the scent. Unfortunately, it's not common in many fragrances. I'm definitely intrigued.

Great review, I can totally relate to your impressions as I have Sacred Scarab in my collection and really love this creation from Sultan Pasha. To me it's less challenging than you describe it, but maybe I have a greater tolerance since I also enjoy Hyrax very much, haha. 😂

My first impression of Sacred Scarab is very old school grand dame vibes, I mean it smells like a vintage. If I didn’t know it was new I would think it was a vintage from a grand old house. I like it especially in the heart and base. But it doesn’t dethrone my beloveds Civet and Squid
@dimitrijenestorov2 жыл бұрын
My favorite from Zoologist is Hyrax, so you could say I like those kind of dirty musky scents. Now I have a question, before my sample arrives, does the soapy musky vibe remind you of how YSL Kouros comes across?

Interesting. I never got any zoologist before as performance seemed lacking on a lot of them but I was interested in cow.
@britsticher88892 жыл бұрын
That would depend on how you define performance. I've tried most of them and I find they all last a very long time 8h+ but they don't have a very big sillage.

I got a sample of it and found it to be super soapy. I think it's the blue lotus that contributes to that. After about an hour it turns into the sweetest myrrh scent...

Floral musk sounded right up my alley, was thinking of a floral Civet. Its a very complex and balanced scent, really nice; sampled it and unfortunately it leans too much into "grandma in the church" style, right up there with nightingale.

I loved the modern revival of this kind of fragrance but I will agree with you on nightingale

Hi Sebastian, great review as usual. I'm keen on Sacred Scarab, but you said it might be challenging to some. Can you peg it against another amber-eg. Elie Saab' Amber No.9nor Serge Lutens Sultan Ambre or even Any Tauer frags? Just to gauge if it is in the same genre. Or is it totally way off? Thanks so much.

Fecal is my first thought based on the name. Scarabs=dung beetle. I haven't listen to the review yet but if does not have a hint eau doo doo ithe scent cannot be inspired by this beetle.

I've been waiting to hear your take on this release! I enjoyed Cow and Seahorse that came out a few months ago - But, they were honestly lacking on the boldness and the artistry that I know Zoologist is capable of! This release, Sacred Scarab and Cockatiel (coming soon) - I cannot WAIT to get my hands on! I believe both of these 2 newest releases coming from Zoologist are going to be very different from one another - and both fantastic in their own way..So, thank you for reviewing Sacred Scarab for us - And I am excited to hear about Cockatiel soo...xoxo

Ohh!! Can’t wait to sample this amber floral … and all the other notes it carries. Sounds amazing (blue lotus, wine, plum, incense, civet, raisins and a scarab beetle pheromone?!) … seems quite evocative of a mysterious Greek or Egyptian temple!! 🪲 PS…wonder if he got any of his inspiration from the Kyphi incense recipes (from the 1st century BC) found in the temple of Edfu or Philae? Similar ingredients and notes! I have tried to replicate this recipe for my own Kyphi resinous incense and it absolutely produces pellets of dreamy dried fruity, sticky and resinous incense, fit for goddesses and gods alike. Again, so excited to try this new fragrance! I hope he captures such magical mystery in this bottle! ⚱️ Ingredients of the Kyphi found on the walls of the temples, plus suggested preparation: “Mastic, pine resin, sweet flag, aspalathos, camel grass, mint and cinnamon are ground together in a pestle and mortar, the liquid residue is thrown away then the cyperus, juniper berries, pine kernels and peker are ground to a powder and added to the mastic mixture. To this combined mixture, they added wine, then left for 5 days. the mixture would then be boiled, until it is reduced by 1/5th, honey and frankincense are then added and reduced by 1/5th the mixtures are then added together, adding then the ground myrrh. This would then be made into small pellets to burn as incense.”
