@@jordangroch8571 No you don't. Some zookeepers might have a degree in zoology but it is not required. Most zoologists have PhD and work in academia or if working in a zoo would be in some kind of management position.

shes not implying they ALL work at zoos, many work in labs and all over the world doing research, when you're a zoologist you can also pursue a career in studying and caring for animals in zoos which is what she personally chose to do in the many different occupations as a zoologist.

Well zoologist can work at zoos, but almost always they go to zoos, maybe to observe or make notes. Zookeepers work at zoos.

I love zoology, I've always wanted to work with animals but I didn't want to work in vets and stuff, I either want to work for the rspca but I feel like it would be heart breaking to see animals in bad conditions everyday so if I don't do that I want to be a zoologist and study cats or owls because they are my favourite animals, I understand cats body language and I would love to learn more about them and owls fascinate me.

i think that the person who has a knowledge about an animal is always a zoologist's . Because it know its habit and habitat and various action which can explain by only the zoological person . so dont think that different in zookeepers and zoologist .☺ ... ......Zoology lover....🤗🤗🤗

I want to be a zoologist, but I don't want to always be outside all the time. I would like to be inside an office or laboratory conducting experiments but also being outside, to change things up. Is this possible?

Most zoologists do work inside in laboratory's or offices studying and experimenting as research. This video is focusing more along the lines of a job as a zookeeper. You can become a field zoologist working outside on the job, but it can sometimes be difficult to achieve since that's a very popular and exciting job that everyone wants to have. So as for you, you will be spending time indoors if that's what you wish. Hope that helps clear somethings up :) Good Luck

the pay is considerably higher to be a zoologist. about 20-30k a year whereas zookeepers can only get from about 10-14k all depending on training

How well do zoologist do if they only study one species is animal? I am thinking of becoming a zoologist and studying elephants, tigers and some other animals. I hope you respond. BTW nice video.

+environmental bee hey there. Hope you don't mind if I respond.... Sounds like you wanna specialize in large mammals (like me! hah) Usually, if you specialize, you're a bit more well off financial wise. But in terms of securing a solid job, it gets a bit more tricky cause its usually hard to find a zoo or wildlife park that would have a position open for such. However, you reap alot of rewards from it because with your enhanced knowledge etc, you're more valued in terms of being placed in a position whereby you would be in charge for things like large mammal studies, breeding programs and even partnerships with non-governmental organizations ( that means you could get to travel!!!!! ^_^) so go for it! and don't give up! I'm currently a biology major at University. Graduated high school in 2013. I guess you could say I majored in biology in high school. I did both Biology, Human&social biology as well as Chemistry, so they would say I was in the "Science Stream" It's great that you wanna find out more about this stuff because it would really narrow down exactly what you want to do in the field.
