big benifit on tonelib is, guitar lab work, multieffect screen shows "PC mode", tonelib no change the display, that means tonelib send usb midi command to g1x-four

Subscribed! I've been using g1four for almost a year and i learned a lot about this toy by watching your videos. İ dont think i can get enough potential from this device because of using a cheap 20w amp.(my amp only have input and headphones out jack.)

Thanks for the sub meka :-) Try running a mini-stereo > RCA cable from your amp's headphone output into a home stereo system of some kind - the rhythm function and some of the FX sound a lot better in stereo and with some low-end - JM2C...

@@jakobwheelhand9907 the Yamaha board is a solid audio interface, for recording - personally, I like it better than the desktop "2-i-2" type interfaces (which I also have) because the Yamaha has a 10-ch mixer in front of the digital interface, so I can instantly run any combination of inputs on the board directly to my DAW, then instantly roll back to using the board for PA - super handy IMO

I use Linux so put them on a Windows 10 tablet. No go for Guitar Lab, system not up to it. Tone Lib went slick as you please and is so intuitive. Winner! Noticed that the Tone Lib Jam is available for Ubuntu Linux so need to check that out next on my main computer. Great vid, thanks.

Thank you again for your videos. I downloaded the software and installation was as shown. if you get an error saying "device not connected" just unplug USB and re-connect. Go to the bank you want to edit and select effect>> Good to go! Let's try it out-Unplug the Zoom from the PC and re-attach unit to your PA to see, if in fact, you want that tone-No? Go back to your PC, re-attach the pedal to it, and start all over again. Instead of being hunched over on the floor trying to follow the manual, you just go back and forth between this software on your PC and your PA. Maybe I am "unskilled" or "untrained" but shouldn't you be able to "test hear" the changes you made on your PC speakers? Or am I incorrect in that presumption?

I replied to your other post that has the same basic question. I very seldom use the software. When I do, I have a tablet, mic-stand holder for the tablet, and pretty long USB cable. So I leave my pedal right where it is and play directly thru my PA setup as I tweak settings. That way I know exactly how the changes sound in my own real-world setup. I don't trust computer speakers, and even though I have true monitors as well, I always tweak my pedal settings while playing thru my actual equipment setup. JM2C...

Is it somehow possible to export and save a patch file from the GuitarLab software? ...because i have a few presets I want to remove from my G1Four but don't wan't to permanently delete them...:I just want to save them individually such that I can reimport them in the future if/when I need them.

I don't use the software myself (though I probably should, LOL !!!) so I'm pretty sure you can save and recall patches to your computer, but you'll have to verify that for your own workflow

In my guitar lab, my G1X Four is not getting recognised, it is constantly telling no device found, I have a proper USB cable, my device is recognised by my computer, just it is not showing in the software. Any suggestion?

Same thing happened to me the first couple of times I fired up the program - it took a while (like 10-15 seconds) then the pedal was recognized - if your pedal connects to Zooms GuitarLab but not ToneLIB, I'm not sure what to say - but if neither program recognizes the pedal, then its worth trying other cables, other USB ports, and connecting directly to a USB port rather than a USB hub - you may also try finding > removing the hardware and drivers entirely, then restart your computer and reconnecting the Zoom to give it a chance to load completely new drivers - remote troubleshooting via YT comments is kinda tough - lol :-)

Thank you for this comparison, but tonelib doesn't support my device A1x four On more thing on guitar lab there is on right side effect pool and I found alot of effects (unknown) that is the additional effect and I can't load it on my device, so can you tell me why?

Yep, I covered that in the video... the FX list you see on the right side of the TL screen represents all the FX in the Zoom library - the grayed-out FX are NOT included by default in the pedal but can be added - some FX in the library require more processing power and cannot be added without removing other FX in that particular signal chain - Also, TL is supposed to work with all of the G1X, A1X, B1X pedals (even though not everything in TL works with ALL pedals) but I only have the G1X-four to work with...

Guitar LAB and Tone LIB don't connect to a DAW, they are stand along applications - and the Zoom G1X-four does not function as an audio interface

Yeppers - and that is (IMO) the most FLEXIBLE way to use the Zoom G1X/B1X pedal for live sets - in fact, that's exactly what I planned to do too, and here's where I ended up... For me, personally, the best use of the software has been creating custom patches and patch bank sequences matched up to songs and song sets - so within slots 01-49, I'm always in a 2-3 pedal tap range of FX for each song as we go thru the set, with slots 50-59 always reserved for my favorite basic "go-to" patches in case I need to do something ad-hoc - just write-up a basic numbering map... If you have fixed set lists, I'd say consider the above option just to reduce overall on stage complexity - if your sets are more dynamic / free-form, or if you just prefer to jump around instantly between patches, then definitely go with the tablet option 👍

Just a question on the order of effects (and amp/cab) in the chain. Does it make any difference to anything? Looking at the pre-loaded patches on my G1 Four it seems pretty random. Should the amp/cab be on the left hand side of the chain or right? I can't see an guidance on this. Thanks.

I have to believe the pedal sequence DOES matter - I mean, FX > FX > FX > FX > AMP/CAB should sound fundamentally different than AMP/CAB > FX > FX > FX > FX ... In general, I suppose whatever order would make the most sense in a "real" pedal chain, makes the most sense in the Zoom FX chain - but that being said, it IS just a bunch of emulation code running on firmware , so I personally go more by "do I like the sound this way or that way" than which order would be technically correct in the real world - JM2C on that :-)

I have had my zoom 4 for 6 months now and the last 5 months it has resided in the box it came in. There are 0 effects that sound decent on this thing and it is such a pain to use, I’m about to sell it and get something else. That said, I would like to try to use this and want to know if there is there a place I can go and trade the nonsense programming on this brick for some nice sounding effects. I am computer literate (or thought I was until I got this), navigating this stuff is painful. An example is: trade or delete Bomb Blast for a nice distortion effect. This video was informative, but I still have not been inspired to get my zoom out of its box. Thanks!

I totally getcha bro - nothing but respect from this side - I was pretty frustrated w/ the default sounds of the new pedal compared to the original model, which I also have and will hold onto. Despite that, it's still the only dedicated FX pedal on my board. Not because it sounds all that great, because the FX + looper + rhythm in one pedal is SO freak'n awesome as a sketch pad or just for jammin - and FWIW, yes we all agree the default patches suck as a general rule, but this thing really opens up when you start tweaking it for your particular setup, tastes, etc. - and not trying to "match" the sound of a tube-screamer thru a '65 blackface :-) So just for the heck of it, why not checkout two of my other videos on the Zoom G1X-FOUR: kzbin.info/www/bejne/imebZ6mla9-if5I and kzbin.info/www/bejne/r33TemCGr9WorZo - but yeah, I'm with ya, and Bomb Blast is a wasted slot LOL !!!

Sorry Bruce, but I have no way to troubleshoot the app and pedal remotely - both GL and TL do work with the G1X and G1Xfour pedals - If you're wont connect, try a different USB cable or a different computer - that's about all you can do

Yeah, good question - the number of available patches (10-59) is preset in the unit, so there's no way to "add or delete" patches (AFAIK) - all we can do is "clear" (or change) each of the (5) FX slots contained IN each patch - I don't know if there's a way to do that "in bulk" using the software, would be handy though...

Wanted to ask that if a looper pedal(like Zoom G1x) says 38 seconds looper(or 38 seconds looping) then what happens after 38 seconds ? Does it stop looping? Or does it take a break and then start looping again? And can we connect Zoom G1x 4 with piano Keyboard? (Am having Roland go keys 61 and yamaha psr e363)

If the looper hits the end of it's time, it plays back the entire recording as the loop. Any instrument that one can come out of with a 1/4" mono cable, can be plugged into the G1X and I've heard of people running keyboards thru it. Never tried it myself...
