Why use registration for a Zoom meeting? Registration is used for Zoom webinars, but you can use Registration for meetings. Three reasons to used registration for meetings: 1) Capture information about your attendees. There are a lot of questions you can ask your attendees using registration questions. 2) Polling, if used, will capture the name and email of those that voted. 3) You may want to know if anyone signed up for your meeting a couple of days in advance. Possibly you have a lot of work to do a couple of days before the meeting, and if no one is signed up, you may want to cancel or postpone the meeting.

Why use registration for meetings?
Despite the registration function being used mostly for webinars, having it on for regular meetings helps with polls (among other things). If you have registration turned on for meetings, you have the participant's name when they answer any polls you run in your meeting. The info will also be available when you run your poll report for that meeting.
It also helps to know if anyone has signed up for the meeting at all, and you're not going to be by yourself.
How to set up Zoom registration for a meeting?
Setting up Zoom registration only works on the web, at zoom.us. It doesn't work in the Zoom app. To schedule a meeting, go to Meetings, Schedule a meeting. In the set up screen, scroll down and you'll find 'Registration required' with a checkbox.
Can I require registration with meetings that use my Personal Meeting ID (PMI)? No.
Where is the registration info located?
You have to finish setting up your meeting to get the registration info. After you've configured everything and you save the meeting, you'll have a section at the bottom of the meeting info page called "Registration"
Can someone register after the meeting starts?
Yes. In the Registration section, after you've saved the meeting, on the right side you'll find registration 'Edit'. In the registration options you have an option to "Close registration after the event". Enabling this will disable registration after the meeting has ended. However, before the meeting starts and also during the meeting, participants will still be able to register, even though this option is on.
What are the required questions and can I add custom questions?
Email and First name are required by default. Last name is not, but you can turn it on or off, and also make it required. There are other fields you can enable such as City, State, Zip code, etc., but you can make those optional. You can also enable 'Questions' your participants might want to ask ahead of the meeting.
How can I test the registration?
You can copy the registration link from the meeting page (after you've saved it). Open that link in a new browser window and fill in the registration information yourself. If you've enabled automatic approval, it will automatically send the meeting link to that person. If manual approval is enabled, the email will only be sent to the participant once you've manually approved them.
Can someone join the meeting without having registered?
Officially, no. You have to register to join a meeting that has registration on. You then get a unique link, just for your participant.
However, if the participant receives their approval email, with the meeting link, they could forward that email to someone else and that person could join the meeting using the link that was forwarded to them. In that case, they would appear to join as the person that registered. So you could end up with two people in your meeting by the same name, having joined from the same link.
You can try preventing this by asking your participants not to share the invite email or link. You can add this text to your invitation confirmation email.

I generate a list of registrations before the program - so I can check off who failed to actually come to our events. I send thank you's for coming and sorry we missed you emails afterwards. I often send chat info and other links as well to attendees, and information about posted recordings. It is also useful for creating emailing lists. I copy the list of emails from the xls report for each event, merge those with those people who attended previous event s- delete duplicates making a growing e-list. Then I send invitations to it for future events. It is a bit tricky to get to the Reports, but quite useful. You might want to do a story about this.

I'm confised by the unticking of the SHOW SOCIAL SHARE BUTTONS ON REGISTRATION PAGE. Why would you want to untick that on a Zoom Meeting where I want as many people to come as possible? Shouldn't that be left on to get as much audience as possible - and just make sure the CLOSE REGISTRATION AFTER EVENT is ticked so people can't join after months down the line with those annoying email notifications of who has joined. Also, how do you turn off email notifications of when someone has joined?

Thank you very much for the video. I'm trying to do that now in 2023, I think a few things changed. My big problem is that I want to do a registered meeting in order to get the information of my clients in the report (in case of problems, their emails will be there), but I don't want them to have to register in Zoom website in order to be able to join the meeting. So, I did a register form, trying to avoid that log in into zoom step, but it's not working. Even if I disable the log in into zoom, it's coming, at that's making me crazy. Hi, Chris. Thank you for these videos. Some questions. Most of Zoom accounts only allow 100 people in the Zoom Room. And several people who register for an event, do not attend that meeting in end. Zoom allows more than 100 can register, beyond the capacity of the Zoom room? If an organizer notices or estimates that number of participants in a single and particular meeting will be more than 100, can do anything about it? pay for that extra capacity in a single meeting? Your attendance report shows when they joined and left. Go to Zoom dot US and click reports. For the emails, you would have to require Registration for a meeting.

Faith, the meeting link is the same link. When you enable registration for a meeting, the registration link is different. Within Zoom - Sign in to the Zoom web portal. In the navigation panel, click Settings. Click the Meeting tab. Under Schedule Meeting, verify that Upcoming meeting reminder is enabled. What if a registration report does not show up in the Reports list after the meeting is over? We had a Friday meeting and a Saturday meeting this past weekend and only the Saturday registration report showed up as available. I can view the list of Friday registrants by clicking on the View link and see all their names and email addresses, but the report itself does not seem to be available. In addition, reports for meetings we had a year ago are still in the Report Que.

The registration report should show up once someone registers and registration is required. Registration reports can be found in two places. One is the actual meeting. The other place registration reports show up is in reports. You can delete the report also. Thanks for your great explanation. We regularly host webinars with registration required. Now I would like the customers to do the registration on my own landing page and then send them through to zoom without having to fill out the same information again. I googled this and came to the conclusion that it is not possible. BUT, I just registered for someone else's webinar on their landing page and I was not redirected to Zoom registration, instead I received an email from Zoom, with my information in the email "thank you for registering..." and with a personal join zoom link which I was asked "not to share". You can use other third party programs to manage this. This does require working with some fairly user-friendly interfaces (but there are lots of good KZbin videos to help you). You need one program to create the "registration" form (which you then send people the link to or embed in your website etc). This will also allow you to auto send confirmation emails to yourself and/or the person registering. You need a second (that you link to the first program and to Zoom) - it will be "triggered" whenever the form is completed. It will then automatically add the registration details to the relevant Zoom meeting or webinar. Finally, Zoom then sends out it's confirmation email with the unique link as normal and automatically. Examples of programs that do this - many website plugins allow you to create the form - SquareSpace also does - Jotform can handle both the form and the triggering and link to Zoom (and has a good user-interface) - Zapier allows you to connect most form "programs" with Zoom

Hey, I have a question if you are able to assist, it would be greatly appreciated: I have a list of emails for individuals to attend a zoom session. My goals is to add these emails to a list or somewhere in zoom (this is where I need help) So that I can direct individuals to a website, that has a "login here" button. When participants click the login here button, they would be prompted for their email, and if their email matches one that we entered in zoom, they are allowed entry into the meeting. Is this possible? The problem with using "registration " is that a unique link is emailed to each person, they would then have to access their email to join the session. We want to avoid this as some individuals will have have access to company's emails on weekends. Any advice suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your question. Depending on your Zoom account and rights, you can have Zoom only accept certain domains. You can also require only authenticated people to join your meeting (meaning they have a Zoom account and can't join a meeting without signing in to Zoom). I'm not sure why people can't access their email on weekend, they need the internet to join a Zoom meeting, but if that is the case, the only thing I can think of is to text people the meeting ID before the meeting. They can Join, without accessing their email, put in the meeting ID, and the hose can allow them in from the waiting room.

I think this would work. You register for the meeting using another email (gmail, outlook, etc.) If auto approve is set for registration, you will get the meeting link immediately. If manual approve, approve the registration if you are the host. Now send the meeting link that you received - copy and paste it - to the VIPs. Now they have the meeting link. For the Sign-in issue: make sure the meeting is set up so people do not have to have a zoom account to join the meeting. That should work.

Three easy suggestions. 1) Schedule a test webinar prior to the real webinar. Invite a few co-workers or friends. 2) When scheduling a webinar, there is a feature that allows you to be in practice mode before starting the webinar. 3) I've actually scheduled a practice webinar, registered with another email, to see how that works, and then started the webinar by myself with another computer (usually a laptop) sitting next to me, so I can see what users will experience. The last method is my favorite since I can see what I'm seeing as the host, and my 2nd laptop shows me what attendees are seeing.

Not that I know of. I suggest telling people in the registration invite that registration is cut off on (whatever date). Do Manual registration. Approve the ones that register by cutoff date.

Yes. A couple of options. 1) You can put the registration link on your website. 2) You could put an image on your website and make a hyperlink from the image to the registration page.
