Hi Chad.. nice stuff... I was a drummer in various bands in Ireland for about 30 years, I was never much good but I was paid regularly and wracked up hundreds of gigs in all sorts of venues playing all sorts of styles.. the main thing I learned about drumming was keep it simple and steady, play within yourself.. then the song and musicians playing it can " breathe" .. So my point.. what you did there on this video is a great example of those things.. simple , steady with just the right level of excitement or drive.. cool dude well done.. i look forward to hearing the finished song and yeah i agree with you about the getting nervous half way through the song overthinking it really.. but you nailed it second time around. . Nice one. I must say though, I much prefer playing guitar and singing now, songwriting and recording too.. after all those years behind the drums it's very liberating plus I don't have to haul around as much equipment to gigs 🤓🤣 And .. what's that trick you learned from Steve albini about the drum heads?.. I'd be interested to know it.. Keep up the good work, I always enjoy the channel.. 🎸🥁🤘🤘✌️✌️

Oh, thank you, Andy for this wonderful anecdote! That is always welcome and desired, as I love rock and roll stories! Thank you for your ongoing contribution. I fully agree with all of your drumming advice, simple is all I'm capable right now, and I don't think I would be a good, real drummer -- recording only! The stress of being either a drummer or a singer is real! They both have upsides and downs. The heat gun trick is the coolest. When we recorded with Steve, he had a set there iwth some rough looking heads and we thought we were going to need to change them. He got his heat gun and heated up the top of the heads and they all snapped back into place! I'll do a vid showing how it works, and it works great. Just turn it on high and move it around the dents until they pop back up.

This one should wrap soon, Km. I can get the guitars in one day and the bass and vocals should also be straightforward. Back at it on Sunday.

Yes!!! The heat gun has endless possibilities! This one really works, I don't know how many times you can do it before it melts the heads, haha!
