Awesome Interview, Aurel is a living horology historian. I think that vintage watches are the soul of the industry and if they survive this crisis well, the industry will survive and thrive as well. I think also that changes have to be made, like introducing technologies like Augmented Reality for showing a watch and Virtual Reality for experiencing the movement and watch components.

I really enjoyed the video. When I listen to Mr. Bacs I always get reminded that he is a salesman, so he is always pumping up the importance of his wares (vintage watches) relative to competition and trying to legitimize someone paying a higher price.

As an average vintage watch collector, I enjoy this conversation very much, in fact more than the usual Rolex pricing topic and how hard to get one. Here it is all about vintage passion, where money is not the main factor but more the availability for sale from the owner. Thank you to Wei for sharing his amazing personal collection, a “sans faute” in my opinion. I totally agree with Aurel Bacs : “watch collecting is a journey”.

Wait a few more months and when businesses start to fail, most people who have bought vintage watches as an "investment", who have over-leveraged will start to sell their toys. Once the economy is fully functional again we will definitely see a free fall in the prices of watches, we have already seen a free fall in the price of super/hyper cars. Like all toys, there will be fire sales and people will need money. I've stopped buying in the last 3 years because prices have been too inflated(clearly is a bubble). I'm sitting and waiting right now for fire sales. There will be at least a 30% discount on most models that were not made in very low quantities.

Excellent show the best of your series! I'm glad Aurel shares my view that watches need to be seen and feel before buying so the online watch selling agenda is not a good one. I would never buy a watch sight unseen. It also makes me happy that you show your collection and not hide it from the public, I like your collection maybe not the shiny gold AP. LOL! Keep up the good work...

Dont' watch brand execs read contracts before they sign them? How is it possible that BW fair contract with exhibitors does not include Force Major clause? I know this is Europe, where once you paid your money you are a hostage of the company and thus a potential victim. Knowing that , how is it possible to trust BW with huge sums of money without any guarantee of refund? I think exhibitors should share some of the blame for this fiasco; they knew of predatory nature of the Swiss businesses and low ethics environment that is accepted as a norm here.
