Unless youve done something to modify your SV650, the 8R makes approximately 10 more ft-lbs of torque than the SV650, and only weighs < 20 lbs more. I think flashing it gains an additional 6 ft-lbs? My guess why it felt worse, initially anyways, is that the powerband differs from the sv650. The 8r torque prioritizes low to mid end grunt and tapers off around 6.5k rpms The sv650 is a bit more well rounded and tapers off around 8.2k rpms. TLDR: Youd want to start pulling from really low RPMs. :)

I didn’t mean to come off trashing the 8R. It’s definitely a nice smooth consistent power delivery where as the SV likes to buck up like a bull😂 that’s my main difference between the 2. The GSX8R is a perfect bike for those looking to be comfy and easy going while on a sporty ride

@hunterrides For what it's worth I liked the difference in opinion! I think alot of reviewers, especially those who review a ton of bikes, forget to mention the smaller nuances like the varying powerbands and how it actually feels going from one bike to another.

gsx 8r is that fake sportbike with no power, right?

has more torque then a lot if not all 600s its just a 2 cyl not 4 and its for sport touring

looking back i now see from factory full stock the torque is detuned but once tuned way different way better
