Flacco was my favourite back in the old days of the late 80's. This is one of his poems: The Devil from New York came down to Mar-a-Lago, He was looking for an election to steal, He was in a bind 'cause D was way behind, He was willing to make a steal, When he came across Orange Man jawin' on an election speech and playin' it hot, And the Devil jumped upon a hickory stump and said "White boy, let me tell you what." "I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a political player, too, And if you'd care to take a dare I'll make a bet with you, Now you play a pretty good political, boy, but give the Devil his due, I'll pull every string and crush your soul 'cause I think I'm better than you." The Orange Man said, "My name's Donald, and it might be a sin, But I'll take your bet, and you're gonna regret, 'cause I'm the best there's ever been." And Yeah, Flacco was tops, but Col Carpenter was the best.

When 14 and likely watching the Big Gig I knew Wendy Harmer and Flacco were both funnier than DAAS. The ABC wouldn't show established popular comedians like George Smilovici, Rodney Rude or Kevin Wilson who can actually outwit anyone in the room. The D-Generation was the best the ABC had to offer in 1989 and Big Gig wasn't even close.

I still wonder why people like Flacco are so rare. The world is huge, where are all the originals hiding? Is there some incredibly fun and outlandish place where gatherings of Rudyards and Banjos and Opposite Browns are all snickering about some joke I"ll never hear? I suspect so. Its a cruel world after all...
