ZOR My-Turbo Install in my Suzuki Samurai

In this video I show in depth the install of the Zuks Off Road My-Turbo!
This install uses some fairly simple tools and a little knowledge, i think pretty much anyone with a little mechanical ability could install with a little guidance from Myron at Zuks off road. The Turbo is a definite power increase from the meager naturally aspirated 1.3L

How many hp will the Turbo add?

so how brave are you when it comes to ignition timing? there is a company called CB performance that sells what they call the 'black box'. its an ignition timing controller with a 3 bar map sensor. works wonders with boost. better idle and off boost fuel mileage, and still have the timing retarded enough that it doesnt detonate. plus, if it dies while in a remote location, you can bypass the black box and limp home on the locked distributor. i plan on using one on both my sandrail and my samurai. also consider a knock gauge on it. sometimes its knocking light enough you can't hear it, but its hammering bearings none the less.

Considering taking this on myself soon. I would love for my Zuk to be a little more powerful. My engine is totally stock and only has 84,000 miles on it. Runs amazing. I thought about the 1.6 swap, but my motor is just too good. I just can't see myself ditching something which has proven to be so reliable but she does struggle a little to turn my 31s. Anything faster than 50mph is an absolute struggle. I do not plan on getting bigger tires so a little boost would go a long way for me. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Oh yeah, it definitely does in low range for crawling, i havent really used it in mud and high range but i bet it would be awesome. I have used it in deep snow and as long as you dont lug it down below 2000 rpm it works great! Thanks for watching Zuki Evolution!

It was a kit from Zuks offroad in Arizona, i have since that video sold that whole set up and swapped in a 1.6l 16v engine which is way better than that turbo 1.3 ever could be.

Very neat work. I was going to ask what u did for more fuel but i see at the end of the video u jetted the carb. ... Ive never done a turbo but ive been studyin here n there for years of how its set up. .... I want to turbo charge my short 94 Plymouth Voyager van's 3.0 Mitsubishi engine. ...... Want to put the turbo down near, below the front passenger's left foot, or where catalytic converters usually sit. ... Sort of a mid placed turbo, compared to normal or tailpipe turbos. ..... ......... My theoretical obstacle is the return for the turbos oil line. ... I know it would be hard to remove my oil pan without pullin the engine, or at least some ........... What do u think about an L shaped fitting from the pans drain plug.. that i remove when i need to change the oil? .... .. Let me know if u can.. or anyone else here knowledgeable. .. Big Thanks

Thanks man, my zuk is no longer turboed, i swapped in a 1.6 16v from a 1993 sidekick. Way better way to go! Well i hope the borders open this year as we would like to do moab or the rubicon. I doubt they will open this summer though. We are planning a huge wheeling trip this August 6,7,8th just north of you at the whipsaw trail in British columbia. I am in Colombia currently and I normally drive my samurai around the coast which is hot and humidity is high, I put in and ac, every time I switch on the ac the temperature rises a lot to the point I have to turn it off until cold down to normal level. Any suggestions please..

Not sure what you could do other than put a colder thermostat in it and check and see if you fan is working when you switch on the ac.

What fuel pressure is the fuel regulator at when in the on positoon key . I installed kit just has hard time turning on , once hot it works fine , hesitates when you step I n the gas too fast .

Engine is stock other than the turbo. It made quite a difference. At some time ill repower with a bigger engine. There is no replacement for displacement they say! Thanks for watching Zuki Evolution!

Excellent video, man! I am passing the same process with my samurai. But I going to change intake manifold to hand-made and fuel injector. I did exhaust manifold but made a measure mistake with intake flange 3D model. Do you have planes to go to fuel injecting turbo G13A?

Radiator cud have flow problems. Especially if its rebuilt or has a pinch in the veins

Also check your thermostat, see that there no big rust build up and check your water pump and hoses

Oh yeah, definitely, but theengine cant handle any higher boost. Personally, i say the motor wasnt built for boost in the first place and wont last long with it.

Also I got a turbo heatshield off Summit Racing and that seems to really help with the heat coming off the turbo but that may be a more pricey solution.

Horrible idea on doing RTV on both sides of a rubber gasket, just on pan is the way to go. And the other BAD idea is trying to Turbo any carb this way never gonna be right, just go find an ECM and wiring with throttlebody bla bla bla and adapt it to your motor!

Ive never had trouble putting a thin layer of rtv on both sides of a "cork" gasket. Yes you would possibly have trouble with a rubber gasket. I didnt engineer this turbo kit, zuks off road did, i expect they know what they are doing as it works fine. Lots of things were turboed before efi came along. I dont see why this wouldnt work also.
