Use Delney with Bats T2 Lifecreed Duo T3 Delney T5 Starscape Cleric (with Offspring) = get 32 lose 1 life trigger
@circolodellinconcludenza43693 ай бұрын
Neat idea but I think you'd have to build bats very differently considering that you core trigger abilities often buff the bats (anti-synergy) or draw you cards at the cost of life (which could just end up killing you) or gain you life or rip cards from your opponent's hand (both cool, but sometimes just win more), or don't come from 2 power creatures (zoraline). The only real synergy is the one you mentioned and it's not really needed: when you offspring the cleric you deal a ton of damage anyways. And considering you chip away your opponent's health quite easily with bats, you don't need that much damage to really make cleric a win con. Plus, Cleric's offspring ability comes on turn 5. I feel like it just requires too much setup and you don't really edge your winrate against your tuff matchups

How is it 32 life 1 life triggers? My math is: Starscape Cleric + it offspring token ETBs Lifecreed Duo sees 2 creatures, triggers twice -> 4 triggers due to Delney Stack now has gain 1 life four times. Each 1 life gain triggers both clerics once -> 2 opp. loses 1 triggers -> 4 triggers due to Delney So your 4 you gain 1 triggers causes 4 opp. lose 1 triggers each, 4*4 = 16. Did I do bad math or did you?
@Hanmacx3 ай бұрын
@@IqmasterDaNinja you forgot that Offspring gets copied too, but it is in sequence when Starscape Cleric enters, you get two Lifegain trigger and two Offspring trigger stack them so offspring resolves first now for the first offspring token, you get 2 lifegain trigger which result in 2x2x2 = 8 lose 1 life trigger for the second offspring token, you get 2 lifegain trigger again, which result in 2x2x3 = 12 lose 1 life trigger then the two lifegain trigger from the original resolves, which are again 2x2x3 = 12 lose 1 life trigger total = 32 life lost in one turn

23:43 I didn’t know scrying was tied to a certain color. I know my friend played an azorius scry commander deck one time but all colors scry, right? I’m still pretty new to the game
@Trevbot7893 ай бұрын
Scrying in the past is generally a blue thing. But over the years, the color pie has become a mud pie and all colors can pretty much do all the things. Like green being able to draw cards nowadays
@lancelee3383 ай бұрын
@@Trevbot789 See, I thought all colors got card draw, it’s just how they go about it that’s different White has the worst card draw. It may come bundled with another thing they do like tokens or enchantments or healing Blue has all the card draw in the world Black has card draw at the cost of life or sacrificing creatures Red has impulse card draw, where it’s exiled and you can only play them until end of turn Green has card draw tied to having big creatures or casting big spells, usually on enchantments or at sorcery speed Is that just modern magic design (not the format) and I haven’t seen where it all comes from?
@burningpapersun13 ай бұрын
Modern magic also pushes creatures do a lot of the heavy lifting. White getting good land ramp is a new development the past 2 or 3 years.
@bigbrainenergyguy2 ай бұрын
@@lancelee338 Magic's color pie used to be stricter with what each color can do. The problem with that is some mechanics, like card draw, are too powerful and result in game-warping effects when they are locked out of any of the colors. For card draw specifically the designers came up with ways to give everyone access to the mechanic in a way that fits the feeling of each color, like impulse draw for red. The color pie has evolved a lot over the history of the game. It used to be that rituals (spells that gain you more mana than they cost) were strictly part of black's color identity, but now they are solidly red. Creatures used to be garbage until Wizards realized that people actually like playing with creatures and have continually pushed their power level higher and higher over the last decade while other card types remain roughly the same. For the most part that's proven to be the right call. It's more fun to play with a board full of creatures rather than everyone slamming planeswalkers and holding a full grip of instants and sorceries. Or worse yet, artifact shenanigans. With all that being said, scrying is still mostly a blue thing. White and black get it a little bit, while red and green not so much with the exception of Theros. On Theros, everyone scrys all the time.

I would throw in 1-2 Bezas and 1-2 temporary lockdowns for bo1, also the bronco is not great against aggro so I wouldn't run 4 copies, unfortunately there's not many great 2 drops to replace it, dust animus is sometimes fine, 2/3 flier that can block slickshot s***-off. I'm running 2 copies of each in bo3 atm and seems a good balance
@speedlemur3 ай бұрын
I also ended up cutting all virtue of loyalty, too slow vs aggro and most other people have enchantment removal atm. Good to have 1-2 copies of legions to ashes to deal with urbrasks forge and/or a single season of the burrow.

Question. What 2/3 does Disfigure not reliably kill that requires everyone to run Cut Down instead? It just seems worse. All the time. Wiffs a lot. Has no surprise element. Loses to indestructible after-effects. Loss to normal attack stat buffs.

Disfigure gives -2/-2? It doesn't kill anything with 3, 4 or 5 toughness... Cut down is better
@jake41793 ай бұрын
Only thing it doesn’t hit in this meta that cut down is swiftspear with role or prowess. I run disfigure anyway because reducing damage from heartfire or scamp is way more important.
@Jordan-dg8tp3 ай бұрын
I just did a quick Goldfish search for standard. Disfigure would not kill, but cut down would: Warden of Inner sky with 1 +1 counter on it. Dust animus without counters Swiftspear with 1 prowess trigger (can be done in response after the first pump so you can be reactive quicker and get more value) Some amount of 1/2s in the warleader's call deck. Honestly, it isn't a whole lot more, but sometimes it can be enough to care (also, many people copy of off other's lists, so sometimes similar, but different cards get overlooked.)
@ocha-time3 ай бұрын
@@kunimitsune177 If it's got 4 or 5 toughness what are the odds that it dies to Cut Down anyways? It feels like 9/10 of your targets for Cut Down are not only killable with Disfigure, but Disfigure CAN be cast on anything that's even outside Cutdown range, as a combat trick, saving your blocker and killing the attacker. And most of the arguments about things pumping monsters above Disfigure range ALSO generally put it outside Cut Down range. I'd rather have the flexibility to make the attempt, or kill something that's indestructible, and have a dead card very, very occasionally than have a card that's dead more than occasionally. Disfigure has options long after Cut Down is trash.
@shizukajonouchi25623 ай бұрын
@@ocha-time Remeber its not just 2/3 that gets hit that disfigure doesn't. 1/3 is a target, too. A lot of 1/3's are etb iirc, so it might not matter at that point, but killing a 1/3 defender could be vital. I also dont run into indestructible as much as I run into hexproof. Which stops both. I'm also a bronze scrub so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Definitely not "bats" at all. This is just generic BW Midrange. Actually the most stock standard BW Midrange deck actually has more bats than this because they run 2 Aclazotz'. Though if you're that worried about aggro, where's the Beza? As for not having answers to the forge. There's 3. Legions to Ashes is the standard. Season of the Burrow can also get there in a pinch. But the other smart option, even though you've shit on it in the past, is Loran. Who on top of other things, is a permanent you can get back with Zoraline.
