It works really well in other colors too, Dark Purple to Bright Pink worked OK. Then used a warm version (Brown through to Bone) then glazed Blood for the Blood God over it...liked it better on the orbs, but after matt varnish, I liked it better on the weapons. Wouldn't even attempt it before this video....now experimenting. Shows how well it is explained and how approachable the technique is.

New to painting miniatures, but I dry brushed my metallics over chaos black, purposely leaving splotchy areas of black left on, and then drenched the whole thing in nuln oil, it’s very dark, ancient, and grimey.

With the amount of money ive spent on these models, it was REALLY important that I had the colors and the exact blueprint that I wanted to follow! Ive seen a LOT of videos over the summer and into Winter now, before I eventually landed on this one, I've come back a few times, and I've done some test on a 3 warrior test box I bought for 35bucks they also gave me a couple of the paints I knew I would need like the Warp Glow and Rune lord brass. That said, this is the scheme I've landed on. It is detailed enough that even I can keep up, and it seems to me that it will get the best results with a skill set that is most realistic to what I think I can achieve as a budding hobbyist. So thank you for all the time you spent on these videos man! The impact you have had on my first army can not be understated!

After excitement quickly came feeling of unease and this grim question in my mind started to float - "How and where should I even start?". It became a struggle because I really wanted to paint and after watching multiple painting guides all i thought was "That cool and all but I don't have tools and skills to paint like that". I like the dry brush a lot better than edge highlighting with a brush. Dry brushing makes it look a whoooole lot realistic in my opinion. You're mini's look amazing!!

That make up brush allows you to do the base level dry brushing in a few minutes it looks like. And its broad shape would really help to get an even light stroke of paint to build up.

Wow, this is fantastic. I just got my Indomitus box and have been whinging (yeah whinging and I'm American) on how to paint them. I'm a recent subscriber and this is just perfect. I have all these paints already, save for the Vallejo grey (I'll just use Celestra Grey) and you really do a great job breaking down each individual step and then demonstrating the same technique on 3 different models in slightly different ways. I think I'm going to go for this look for my whole Necron army. Really impressed with your work, thank you sir!

Dang, the painting has a neat contrast. Going a little darker on the metals allows that green to pop. And it looks like it paints pretty quick. Makes me wonder, if you did a subtle dark red wash over the metals at the earlier part of the layers, would it give a hint of color compliment to the bright green, especially in the recessed areas?

Ah thanks dude! There's definitely some more advanced weather we could do with oils and pigment powders, and then maybe bring in some expert help for some airbrushing stuff and advanced edge highlighting :)

It may well be me, but I have felt a bit divided on the cryptek armourshade gloss. It really glooped up for me and left quite a few spots. I had to go back with the runelord brass highlights on quite a few areas. I would say be careful with how you apply the cryptek. Fantastic guide, by the way, much appreciated!

Those look absolutely remarkable! However! I'm missing some blood splatter and pools on the ground ;) Some small battle damage details would also be a plus. I see this video is ~2 years old now but I just recently 'joined the club' with Warhammer 40K and painting although I'm nearly 40 now. Necrons are my first (and only) army and I really appreciate your work teaching me/us these techniques. Looks super dope.

This can also be done with a leadbelcher primer and a scorpion brass drybrushed which make it look like real metal
