I thank you indeed for the backstory. As one who is not much a fan of Derleth’s pastiche, I have often wondered, how many authors had their opportunities quashed by Derleth for being more talented than he? Personally, I believe Derleth did a great disservice to the genre, and insult to legacy, by claiming a mantle he couldn’t carry.

Thank you for these two stories It's a sad and angering commentary that this author could not pursue his gift.

could you please reupload the faceless god, the lurker at the threshold, beyond the threshold and ive been unable to remember the title of the last but the story is about a young man inheriting a house that is believed to be haunted by the narrators warlock grandfather/uncle, the narrator dreams that he is kidnapping children with the help of a familiar. he then finds a hidden room that turns out to be the room from his dream where he brought the children he captured. ive been here from the start and its been amazing watching the channel grow and thrive, you got the fire, the one place that actually puts the effort in to post lesser known stories.

What a history behind this one. Derleth having the nerve to worry about another author “borrowing” from lovecraft! Ha!

Great, and now obscure material, known only to true Lovecraftian fans. Thanks.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Will of Claude Ashur, good find! Never heard of the fellow. Fits perfectly with the other stories. Thanks from Holland 👍🏻

@@cosmicandbodyhorror i beg of you please reupload the faceless god and the luker at the threshold etc....only one other channel that has it available has a reader who is so terrible that its impossible to listen to even when they are some of my favorites. the guy just butchers them and yells everything he reads, its torture..the same page has several other stories which people will love and be unfamiliar with

What I heard about the subject is that Derleth and Wandrei founded Arkham House to collect all the Available writing of Lovecraft and publish all HPL's work . But that is what I thousands of miles away got as information about Derleth. I read also other work by him, "Not Long for this World" which includes "The Gold Box" A delightful little story. Any addition to the Cthulhu Mythos is welcome in my opinion. Realizing we live in the third decade of the 21st century more than a century later. And we still love Arkham, Innsmouth, and the likes. It's a kind of Nostalgia I guess.

Fun fact: Eldritch is Spanish for The Dritch.

From letters of the Lovecraft circle I read that writers like R.E. Howard and Clark Ashton Smith also got stories back with requests to change this or that. But I too think Derleth wasn't honest.

Definitely better than anything Derleth did in the mythos. Superior in every way.

Ive wondered what the Derleth/lovecraft clique drama would look like if they had social media back then. Theyre be so much beef!!! Imagine them arguing on Facebook or making revenge videos on KZbin. 😂😂😂😂

Inneswich (hope I spell it right) is for me a genius combination of Innsmouth and Dunwich.

I wish these were read by a person instead of AI. AI is still a distance away from being a good voice/reader. Would love to have the guy from Horror Babble read this story.

Not a fan of Derleth - he introduced Satanism into the Mythos, as if that made any sense.
