When it comes to birds, it’s easier to throw a towel or a shirt over their head it calms them down and makes it easier for you to get them untangled. This also helps not getting nipped by a pelican.

Yes perfect for camping. The only issue is there is no phone service and you're all alone down near the 20 mile marker. Migrant boats coming in sometimes down in that area so I would carry something to protect yourself. You can also camp as soon as you get on the beach. There will be more people until you pass the 5 mile marker then it starts thinning out. Best fishing on Padre is between the 20 and 30 mile marker or all the way down to the Jetties. I have camped in between the entrance and mile marker 5 before and had a blast. If you're needing phone service go on HWY 361 towards Port A and take beach access 2. Once on beach turn right. Good spots all the way to the jetties and less people then going left.

The boat probably just came from Tampico or outside Reynosa and slipped around to pins in the dark. Scary that someone can slip into our country unnoticed like that. The smugglers will exploit every nook and cranny
