Wow a 917 in 1981. I had to look it up. One actually did race.

Crazy! I was unaware of this! I had to look this up. Its a Kremer 917 K/81 Flat 12 boxer, 600 HP, naturally aspirated, qualified in the top 10 and a DNF by the 7th hour when it hit a back marker damaging the oil line and making it loose oil. It also raced at Brands Hatch later that year with a DNF as well. Very cool looking car 10 years after its last race!

@@Timinator62 the 908/80 was actually a 936 with it's chassis number replaced. Reinhold Joest is the only team outside of the factory to race a 936 chassis. Porsche didn't want to get other privateers mad, so they allowed him to use it with a different chassis number. Joest regularly raced continuously update 908 chassis that looked almost like a 936, so no one would contest it was a 936.
