Fantastique souvenir cette année là , j'avais 17 ans ! Le Mans reste une course fabuleuse de rebondissements divers et variés quelque soit l'époque ! Un bon petit brin de nostalgie quand même ! ! !

A dramatic win. I read that Didier was dehydrated and got muscle pain. He was given oxygen after finishing the race. Wow what a thrilling race. Bravo that they could defeat Porsche. Respect.

Souvenir de jeunesse. J'étais au Mans 3 ans plus tôt, 1975, une autre époque, pas de regrets, juste de la nostalgie. Pironi, Depailler, Jarier, Jaussaud, pour ne citer que les Français et tant d'autres, mes héros de toujours.

Motorsport journalist Nigel Roebuck was driven around Paul Ricard at speed by Didier Pironi in the Alpine Renault not long after the Le Mans victory. He said that at first it was impossible to follow what was happening as it was all so bloody quick, but he finally got used to the high speeds and was able to watch carefully what Pironi was doing behind the wheel. It must have been some sort of Renault junket since they were following Arnoux in the F1 Renault at one stage, and Rene dropped some oil at Signe, of all places. Roebuck remembers that when they entered the fast right there, flat at around 180 mph, the Alpine started to slide on the oil. Without a pause, Pironi caught the slide and simply carried on through the corner without lifting. It all happened in a split second. Roebuck said Pironi turned to him and gave him that floppy French hand gesture, as if to say, 'that was a close one.' Balls as big as planets.

J'étais gamin et je l'avais suivi à la TV. Puis mon père a acheté une R5 neuve et il y avait un autocollant jaune sur la vitre AR avec le logo de la voiture de la victoire. Puis sur sa R5 suivante pareil mais avec une F1, toujours en jaune, avec Elf. C'était quand même un exploit de battre les allemands (sans arrière pensée...)

A great promotional film, Renault tried so hard , different specifications for each car, the #1 the Jabouille car was leading easily, they turned down the boost pressure, which hadn't been tested, they oil spray under the pistons to cool them wasn't sufficient,so it went bang. I have a 1/32 scale slot car of the #2 winner, out of 500 cars in my collection it's my favourite one.

Je ne comprends pas avec quasiment le même moteur 500cm3 de différance Renault Sport F1 une année avant et la même année n'arrivait pas à faire fonctionner son V6 turbo 1500 cm3 sur une période de 2h30 alors que durant 24 heures le même moteur non seulement tenait bon mais gagnait

Et 10 ans plus tard la Peugeot WM P88 est montée à 407 Km/h, qui restera je pense le record absolu au Mans avant un bon paquet de décennies, si ce n'est de siècles.
