Hello, does the scooter have cruise control, or how to turn it on? can the scooter be unlocked to go more than 25 km/h? with G2 it was possible by changing the country in the application ... thank you, good luck
@TeapodeАй бұрын
This is not a successor to G30 but to failed P100S. Mine P100S is still 7th month in Segway service as they still do not have parts. And yes, issue is broken front fork on my P100S, thats why that ZT3 has a different front fork. As you didn`t mention P100S even once, it is clear that Segway asked you to not mention failed product. So Pros of ZT3 against P100S - Spring suspension is much better than steel tube torsion bar used on battle tanks and P100S. Suspension didn`t do anything on P100S Bad things that they didn`t change - Brakes are same as on P100S. They do last about 300km before need to adjust. And about 1500km before you need to replace brake pads for 20USD. G30 brakes lasts around 1500km before adjustment, and 5000km before replacement. - Rear fender is the same falling off fender as on P100S. It would fail again. You just ride of a curb once and it is broken. When it is broken and moving it starts to unscrew your rear wheel due to vibration. - Deck is short and uncomfortable compared to G30. - Front fender is even worse than on P100S, and your feet would be wet durring the rain. - Alarm, only way to turn it off is via the app. Goes on when you put it in the car, goes on when you move it in your flat. Button on handlebars to activate and deactivate would be much better. Automatic unlock via blutooth proximity would drain your battery, it is a bad solution. - Walking mode. Few times I was on 3 lane intersetion and accidentally pushed wakling mode. And you can`t turn it off in movement. Only way to turn it off is to stop. So I ran through intersections with 50 cars honking behind me. - Best thing of P100S was 1200Wh battery. But with 600Wh on ZT3 you would have a range of 20km on a full speed. So overall ZT3 is not replacement gor G30. ZT3 would require maintanance every 300 km. G30 require maintanance every 1500km. For me that means fixing every month or 2 times per year. To add I have ridden 16000km on two G30s and 3000km on P100S

Incredible feedback thanks! I’ll read through all of this. They never mentioned the P100S. We tried and tried and tried to get one because so many people were curious about, but never got one. We also generally don’t talk about scooters we haven’t tested because we don’t know what we don’t know and your post is a great example of what we didn’t know. -Paul

Under 20 miles distance at top speed is just ridiculous and I don't understand why Segway doesn't use a 60 volt battery!
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideАй бұрын
I asked them about this when the GT2 came out (strangely the GT2 is a 52V scooter which competes against 72V scooters on acceleration). Segway keeps them at a max of 52V for safety. There’s a general idea that sub 60v is safe when exposed (crashed and broken open), and since 60V scooters go well beyond 60v when fully charged, they won’t do scooters which are 60V nominal. -Paul

I’d like to see reviews of scooters with 500 - 1000 miles of use on them. Just like reviews of smart phones and computers, everyone reviews new and out of the box when everything is great. The real quality of any product shows after being put thru real world use not when you first turn it on. Id be curious to see how higher priced Segways hold up in comparison to their lower priced competition, after months of real world use.

Great review Paul and thanks for mentioning the weight. I'm definitely against the this trend of heavier scooters with relatively small 597Wh batteries but I'll trust Segway did their market research and the price certainly helps. In form, this scooter reminds me at lot of the VMAX VX4 with single motor, similar weight and speed, the main difference being that VMAX allows you to pay more and get a larger battery based on range requirements. While the limited range makes this one a no-go for me, the other big issue is with this model's 25mph speed, the same thing that kept me from purchasing the VX4. Models like the Cruiser S for example (even the previous gen) have the option for 31mph speeds, even if you don't use that speed all the time. I question the Off-Road moniker as this doesn't really appears to be the ZT3's strong suit without dampened coil springs and swing arms but hey, there's a semantic element at play. As you stated, the ZT3 appears to be competing with Max G2. It has better suspension, a slightly larger battery, it's faster, and has all the contemporary looks and app tech. It has the appearance that it should compete with dual motor sport scooter but is priced to go after the tech commuter scooter segment while asking them to look the other way when it comes to size and weight.

The more I think about this scooter, the more I wish Segway would have just introduced an actual successor to the Ninebot Max G2. Something in more or less the same form factor but with 25% larger battery, 4-5mph higher speed and with more contemporary styling and tech. Perhaps it would have been a few pounds heavier but still in the same class of commuter scooter unlike this 66 pounder. The boost mode is becoming increasingly hard for me to wrap my head around from the aspect being useful on a typical ride. If it were something that was "on-the-fly" select-able with the press of a button and gave you a few more mph of top speed, I could get behind it a bit more. As of right now, it's hard for me to see it as anything but a gimmick.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideАй бұрын
The funny thing is the G2 is still new, but feels old because they kept it so close to the style of the original. It had to be a tough call for them, revising the best selling scooter ever and not knowing how much change was too much. But they really should have brought the display all the way up to this level on the G2. Given that we had the original Ninebot Max G30 for four years, I think it will be at least a year or two before we get a G3. Boost mode has been around for a while in different guises. The Dualtrons did it on the Thunder 2 with the double click throttle (which is awkward). The Wolf King GTR also has the double click, which also causes a testing dilemma: it's difficult to time it right to get the ultimate top speed and then the question becomes how long does it need to maintain top speed to count as a true top speed? Someone suggested that it would be nice if they made the big red button programmable to be boost mode, since you can already toggle it to be walk mode or hill-hold mode. That would work for me. -Paul

For a scooter advertised as being for off road use I’m disappointed about the ZT3’s single rear shock. Battery capacity and voltage are probably best described as adequate when updating from a G2 Max. The front break rotor leaves a bit to be desired. I’m considering the play now being shown in the telescoping front fork of my G2 Max as my main reason for wanting to update to the ZT3 pro. G2 still feels perfectly acceptable to ride but it seems it has just barely been able to keep up with handling what the root mounds and bumps along my bitumen bike paths have been throwing at it over the last 1600 or so kilometres. This model seems to be the perfect upgrade path for me. 👍🏻

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Amazing Paul, you are really a huge asset for ESG, I have seen other reviews from other channels but those from ESG and those from you in particular are on a whole different level. That's why I wait for ESG reviews before buying. I own a Boosted Rev, which is still great, but it's now 5 years old and the range is even lower than it used to be. I got a Chinese clone of the Rev (Maxfind, don't know if you'll ever review that) which is not bad, but for reliability I think a reputable brand will last much more, so Apollo or Inmotion (or Ninebot) are clearly reputable brands (the Go seems better overall, but the Climber should be lighter and has local service while with I have no Apollo dealer in my country so I need to import and be on my own for repairs). One last thing, no youtube channel mentions what I consider a very important element, tire width. They only mention tire size. But I have learn that width is critical for safety. For instance the Rev is 9in and 3in wide, the Maxfind is 10in and 3.5in wide, the GO I only know it's 9in, but is it 2in or 2.5in wide? The Climber, no idea... Hey, quick question. The brakes are opposite-handed and can't be swapped? You mean between them or for another ones? What does it mean to be opposite-handed? Another question about the battery. The info that they give suggest it has a larger battery capacity because of the 597 Wh that appears on the specs. But the Max G2 is 15.3 Ah at 36 V which means 550.8 Wh which is about 8.4% bigger. How do you calculate the 6%? Do you have the official Ah of the ZT3 Pro battery? (also, 597 Wh divided by what apparently is the voltage of the scooter, gives a capacity between 12.4 and 12.7 Ah for this battery. So, how is this bigger than the Max G2?)
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideАй бұрын
I should really try swapping them. When we were editing this video, I quickly added that note because I was thinking the calipers were mirror images of each other, but come to think of it, maybe they can be swapped. It was just the fact that they're mounted in different orientations that makes them look incompatible. I wish I had time to try swapping them, because I'd really prefer the stronger brake on the front. Segway is confusing, they label their batteries differently from other companies in terms of nominal voltage, so I think that's where the 6% vs 8% discrepancy came from. The battery in the ZT3 Pro has 8.3% more energy than the one in the Ninebot MAX G2. The battery terminology the industry uses is confusing. We should get away from talking about amp-hours to describe battery capacity because it can be misleading. Energy capacity of a battery should always measured in Watt-hours. Here's an example of where amp hours can lead to the wrong conclusion. a 13ah x 36V battery = 468 Wh where a 10ah x 52V battery is 520 Wh Ultimately it's the Wh that count. You can use Ah when comparing the sizes of two batteries, but only if they have the same voltage. The MAX G2 is 36V and the ZT3 Pro is 48V which is why the one with the smaller amount of Ah still has the larger capacity. Thanks so much for fact checking me. I always hate it when I get something even slightly wrong in these videos, but it's hard to avoid. -Paul

Battery size is very similar, tested top speed about the same (the Go is .6mph faster) 0 to 15 the ZTL3 is quicker, but that was in boost mode. Hill climb was quicker for the ZTL Pro in Boost mode or not. So the Go is a bit more grown up looking and has a noticeably smoother ride. Good review - the review mentions it’s off-road uniqueness, so some of the comparisons are not balanced. For example, the MaxG2 is designed for commuting with features like low-rolling resistance tires. The ZT3’s tires are larger and treaded for on/off-road. Overall, I think the ZT3 should be compared to another scooter in the same category,

On earlier versions of the Max G30 and maybe even as recently as the Max G2 people were using a third party app to trick the scooters into thinking they had USA serial numbers. I don’t know what the dangers are though. I’d be a little worried about bricking the scooter. It might be that they have closed this loophole. That said (whispering: this unit in the review is an EU version, but I think it recognized that it’s in the USA or someone at Segway maybe re-patriated it before sending it.) Ours had max speed right out of the box. -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide The one I have is the S40. I always assume 6 hours since the Segway F40 is 6 hours as stated on the site. Even if I’m wrong, I’ll say between 5 to 6 hours and 30 minutes.

Zt3 is upgraded p65, P100 is still bit bigger and more powerful but p65 is street version zt3 looks like p65 but upgraded with shocks for off road still have same speed 25mph while P100 is 30mph. Interesting Zt3 cost is same as P65 $999 still under $1000 bucks. While P100 is is double or almost double price depend where you buy, but now days P100 is very hard to find
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide23 күн бұрын
Yeah the P100 looks amazing, but so much more expensive. I like that the ZT3 gets suspension unlike the P65. Unfortunately we’ve never received a P65 or P100 so we’ve never tested them. We tend to avoid putting scooters we haven’t tested in our videos since we can’t vouch for how far or how fast they really go, and it doesn’t feel fair to compare specified range to the tested ranges we always use. -Paul

Purchased the G2 Max like two weeks ago 😭😭😭
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideАй бұрын
There are definitely some things the MAX does better, like having hydraulic damping in the front shock and longer range. The MAX G2 will remain the standard by which we judge other scooters. -Paul

G2 max still a beast. i bought mine a month ago too, this one looks way cooler and would fit my requirements too, but i dont regret my max, its great scooter for commuting and hopefully will last me a year or two (im already at 460km within a month, so rip....) till we get G3?

Greetings from Russia! Thanks for the review! You can specify the dimensions and weight of the box in which the scooter is supplied, I did not find this information in the video. If possible, provide the data in the metric system.

Hi, we don't usually measure boxes for our reviews, but since I have the box right here I measured it for you just now. 51" x 13" x 25.5" inches which is roughly 130cm x 33cm x 65cm Thanks for watching and commenting. Don't forget to subscribe! -Paul

I think that there is more competition currently in Europe in that segment and Segway is doing an extremely aggressive pricing in EU to get rid of some of the competition… (because the EU pricing is quite low for what you get)
@sebw3964Ай бұрын
This Scooter would make way more Sense with atleast 20Ah48v battery.

I think they went smaller to keep it under $1k. They also went smaller than expected on the GT2 and GT1 though so it’s hard to say for sure. -Paul
@Experiment-lr7smАй бұрын
I think the targeted market is more Europe for that one (actually according Segway themselves) where there is a 15mph speed limitation (higher range) and smaller average rides (smaller cities). But I agreed that it would have been better with 48v 20 ah battery, especially seeing the pricing they can afford to do in Europe 😂
@sebw3964Ай бұрын
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Yes the Battery was the biggest Budget Cut for sure to reach that sub 1000$.But i think it was a big mistake.A Scooter like this just needs a proper Battery.That's what we want and willing to pay for.

@@Experiment-lr7sm Even for us in Europe this Battery is a Joke.It's Ninebot Max G30 Level
@Experiment-lr7smАй бұрын
@@sebw3964agree but they really wanted to be able to do it at a very aggressive price (current price under 700€ is a bit crazy for what you get). But I think that a lot of people would have agree to pay a bit more for a better battery. (Might still happen in next version)
@jasonnelson1585Ай бұрын
if youre gonna compare the range to the ninebot max you should limit the top speed to 22
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideАй бұрын
We always test the range when riding in the highest mode as part of our testing procedure. But you're right, that means scooters with higher top speed take a penalty on range. Scooters with a lot of acceleration will get less range as well, but in both cases we feel that if they give riders the ability to use the acceleration and speed, then they'll probably use it. But it's absolutely true that the range would be very close to the Ninebot Max's range if we rode them both at the same speed. We can tell that by looking at the Watt-hours. It's always tricky comparing range. For example it also wouldn't feel fair to say it has a 25mph top speed and then not use that speed during the range test. The best solution we've been able to come up with is to try to always be clear, consistent and transparent about the test conditions. -Paul

Nice video/test. I was very surprised to not see it in the best under 1000$ but it might have been a bit too early vs the release date… but it seems more expensive than in Europe…
