I think Jokic dominates so much attention. Having a solid rebounder like Gordon coming off the bench will be good against most teams 2nd unit. I like Murray and MPJ in the starting lineup for that spacing. Knock down shooters .

Some clubs are buying stars and then trying to fit them in, which often just doesn't work. Nuggets are cultivating players and build the team from ground up. That takes time, but in the end you get rock solid foundation and variety of options. With all of the players included in team development you now are getting situation where there is not just first and second team but several possible combinations emerging. Just look ate the +/- for this game: starters all in minus and "second" team in fat plus. Couple of more months and the Nuggets will be a well oiled machine stable and steady. One of the few teams that are actually grow and develop.

I think Gordon would understand that if he goes to the bench, it’s not because Westbrook or Braun are better than him but because they need his defense and playmaking on the second unit and Braun would make the bench unit too weak.

While AG is on minutes restriction, keep him coming off the bench. More important for him to get healthy than anything. Once he is healthy… it’s tough. I don’t necessarily care if Westbrook starts, but his minutes can not go down and he needs to share the court with Jokic as many of those minutes as possible.

AG has been ready for a few games, but they gave him extra recovery time. He’ll likely come off the bench. He’s injury-prone, so another setback could keep him out for the playoffs.

Gordon should start. He will slowly stagger the minutes. He is very essential to what nuggets do, the post play and everything. He is often in a mismatch and rebounds very well. Braun for Westbrook seems more feasible.

Not bad at all. Now you can have Westbrook Jamal Watson MPJ and Jokic. Gordon being a former starter, in that scenario, could still play well with Jokic and Murray when you want to switch things up.

I would still start AG because he has always been starting since he joined the team and I see no reason to bring him off the bench when he's healthy. Plus, I don't think AG is the problem with the starters. He's much needed on defense and on offense he can be a lob threat, floor spacer, target for hunting mismatches, ball handler running inverted pick and roll, etc. He's just such a versatile player especially next to Jokic. The elephant in the room is Christian Braun. I like Braun and was advocating for him to start over KCP because I thought overall he would be a more impactful player, but he's making it harder to defend him. Russ is straight up playing better than CB right now in every facet of the game. Offense, defense, 3s made, hustle, you name it. Malone always emphasized the starting positions are earned not given. Well, the awkward thing is I felt like Russ has "earned" it by outplaying CB and even Jamal Murray at times now that we're about half way into the season. The spacing with Russ is still not ideal especially in the playoffs but neither is the spacing with CB. It's a tough dilemma for sure and I can see both sides of the argument as long as Russ is playing 30 minutes a game. Peyton and Julian both need to play around 25 - 30 minutes a game too. They have been awesome for the bench lately.

I think if they leave Russ in the starting lineup and Gordon with the bench, then Nuggets should trade CB. Either get a guy that can shoot the 3 better or a better on ball defender. I would like Toumani Camara for them, solid rebounder, can guard multiple positions, can play sg to pf and he’s cheaper than CB. Peyton is great for the bench defense and Toumani would be great for spacing and defense on the starters or bench

As an unbiased Spurs fan, I think the Nuggets should try a starting lineup of Murray, Jokic, Gordon, Russ, and MPJ. I understand the spacing with Gordon and Russ might be suspect, but tbh Gordon isn’t a bad shooter. If it doesn’t work out, I would move Gordon to the bench. Westbrook’s playmaking and understanding of the game has been huge for them

Aaron Gordon shouldnt come of the bench. The starting five should be. Russel, CB, MPJ, AG and Jokic. That literally gives AG so much freedom. He has the best passer in the NBA(Jokic) and one of the best playmakers in the NBA(Westbrook). The double cut from AG and Russel would be awesome for Jokic too. And if they leave MPJ open its done. Cb should be there for the defense and if he isnt as needed, Murray(if he decides to finally play) could be the SG. That would be game over for any team. Westbrook can guard 1-5, AG can guard 1-5, CB can guard really good and they would be awesome.

Nuggets were down by a mile again in the 1st quarter. Clearly the starting lineup is not doing its job. Meanwhile, Murray continues to play well in 2nd half of games. That said, if the Nuggets play better from behind - and they often do because it forces Jokic to go into beast mode and gives Murray something hero-ball over - then yeah, sure, let's bring Gordon off the bench. He's an all-star caliber player and can eat a lot of other team bench rotations for lunch.

All the Nuggets nation says "bench CB for Russ", and I hope Malone doesn't listen. Right now, to a 3rd year player, starting is a lot more important than a 17 year vet, HOF'er. The upside- 5-7 extra minutes with Jokic in the first quarter. The downside- blow up the original plan(Russ being the adrenaline shot, 6th man), and signal to an important piece on the team that free agency is his future. And anyone saying he's needed cause the Nuggets start slow, the last two games, the Nuggets looked half asleep, Russ started both.

This game is on Kidd and Dinwiddie was game high -17 and 2 for 14 from the field. A healhty nuggets team had grind their ass out to beat this injury riddled Mavs. Mavs are better than Nuggets even without Luka and Kai.
