Please re title this video. This cassette is NOT fake. It is not pretending to be Shimano, it is proud to let us know it is a genuine ZTTO product. ZTTO is highly respected elsewhere in the world. I have had great experience with their products and communication.

@@cyclingunboxed For sure. I love the frame (it's a Kona Wheelhouse), but it had a kind of dated Tiagra groupset with mechanical disc brakes. I really don't want to spend $1000+ putting a newer 105 groupset on this bike. But, putting this L-TWOO groupset on gave me a nice upgrade to hydraulic brakes and 11 speeds in the back. It also looks sharp af with a black cassette, black chain, and all-black crankset. All for a very reasonable price.

The back piece is bolted on because it would not be possible to CNC machine a part with that complete shape, it has to be made in two pieces. The CNC machine has to have access to both sides of the cassette cog tree in order to produce the shape. Look at the SRAM Red cassette and you will see that it has a similar construction. I think we have become accustomed to thinking that any complex shape can be produced easily because it can be 3D printed that way, but that isn't true when using other methods. Also, all 12 cogs are part of the same steel monoblock, it is only the rear spider and central column that are (likely) made of aluminum. I have the XDS 10-36 version of this cassette as well as an 11 speed SRoad 11-34 cassette. So far they both have around 1,000 miles on them and they show almost zero wear aside from a bit of the black surface treatment having worn through. I agree that the shifting is about 90% of the Shimano cassette, but it is more than good enough for me.

I have an 11 speed one but the 3 smaller sprockets are steel and the rest are aluminum. I have been using it for about half a year and over 2k miles. Very happy with it. No issues at all. I would agree that the shifting is slightly slower than the SRAM pg1130 I had on it before.

I have two bikes and have run ZTTO cassettes on both. On my main bike, the cassette was worn out within 6 months. I bought another to replace it. The reason for the premature wear, I think was down to not replacing my chain at the same time I installed the cassette. My other bike got a new chain at the same time I installed the cassette and that has been fine.

The weight similarity to Dura Ace is even more impressive when you consider that the 6 largest cogs on the Dura Ace cassette are made of Titanium, which is not as wear-resistant as steel and costs a lot more. I really think that Shimano needs to consider going to a monoblock steel construction (as SRAM has already for their Red cassettes).
@cyclingunboxed
@cyclingunboxed Ай бұрын
I do agree with this. It’s something I have wandered why they haven’t done it for about 2 years now. Part of me feels it is that way for advertising purposes. It makes the cassette feel more exotic when it has titanium it. Just a theory though.

Looking at a 11 speed 11-40T the ZTTO is 80 grams heavier than the S 105, though... 3 cogs are 1T larger, might be an explanation Else they both look the same, with 10 steel cogs and one in black aluminium. It's half the price than the Shimano, though! 25 vs 50 euros. Looking closely the teeth are all the same, while on Shimano they are different types, some more pointy than others...

Been using the SLR 11-36 on for a year now and its been holding up and it shifts pretty good with my Sensah groupset but I noticed when I upgraded to a Shimano 105 Groupset it didn't shift as good but it worked. I later upgraded to a Shimano Cassette and it's a lot better, I guessing Shimano"a rear derailleur works better as complete Hyper-Glide system.

Pro tip, grab a magnet and see if it adheres to the largest sprocket (which does have ramps machined into it) Aluminium isn't magnetic, so that's the easiest way to check if it's steel or aluminium. (Probably won't be titanium anyway)

Great question! Good and bad 😂 The good. They still seem to be stable, looks good, structurally the same and solid. The bad, the stem mount nightmares continue! I used the epoxy putty to mount it. The putty failed twice In a row. So I tried real carbon fibre! Layed it up, wrapped it in cling film to compress it. Let it harden. seemed rock solid. It was but I only layed up the carbon half way up the mount. This created a fulcrum point where the cheap plastic stem snapped. I should have layed the carbon all the way to the end of the mount. Now I have half a carbon mount stuck on there. I may try again and just keep adding more carbon but have been putting it off for a month. It looks terrible 😂

😳 How about putting a bolt through from the inside going through cable hole and securing the Garmin mount with a nut? I think it should work.
@cyclingunboxed

It’s a good idea. I think it would be tough, it’s a tight space where the cables come out of. The original bolt is also epoxy/ carbon fibred in where I want it to come out of. May see if I can drill it out though! Might be easier just to buy a new bar for this price but also don’t want to be defeated.

Unfortunately, it won’t get any closer! It’s wound out all the way. Although on the video, as you have noticed. I had taken the wheel off and on a few times. It sits high after you have pulled it back until you manually put it back closer. Then it sorts the problem out. For the chain length, any more links and it really starts to sag in the small chainring after about the 4th cog along. Once again, it was sitting in that high position but on a lot of the b roll it’s in its usual. I should have spotted it for the close ups on the video in hindsight but I missed it
