hey man hope you’re doing great! thanks a ton for the vid super helpful. I wanna ask you something, it’s been 5 weeks since my clavicle surgery and is it normal to still feel heavy and weird especially when laying down? also can I start lifting my arm above 90degrees? I haven’t done that because 3 weeks ago the doc told me to do pendulums and it still feels heavy and stiff so I’m afraid it’ll break the plate or bone again 😭
@cyclingunboxed19 сағат бұрын
Hey! It’s hard to say exactly without seeing you in person but here is my theory. If it still feels heavy and stiff, it’s likely the scar tissue around the break from the surgery. You should be able to massage around the bone. Will be a bit sore at first but will go quickly after a few days to a week. Don’t be afraid to rub around it with decent pressure with your fingers. Should help it go fairly quickly. (Will be scary and uncomfortable at first) Is all they have given you pendulums? I would have personally had you taking your arm above 90 at about week 3. Don’t be afraid to start some of the easier exercises on this video and get it moving. (Unless there is any specific complications they have told you?). Don’t swing it straight up there. Start slow and gently move into range. Your body will let you know where to stop. My suggestion is always work into where you feel it but stop just before it becomes painful. Opens up much quicker that way. Feel free to ask me if you have anymore questions. Either do it as a new question on this video or I won’t see it. Or you can email me @[email protected] Also can message me on Instagram @jasons_cyclingunboxed.
@toocoolforwut12 сағат бұрын
@@cyclingunboxed I tried rubbing around the bone with a bit of pressure as you instructed and it felt great. Yes they only gave me the pendulums in week 2 post op and they didn't say that I had any complications but I guess I was the one who's been scared to lift it myself. So I gathered my courage and I did the exercises in your video slowly but surely and I was surprised that I could lift it above 90degrees with little to no pain at all though it was heavy and uncomfortable. And now I can feel my arm is gradually getting lighter and comfortable to control. I guess it was my own fear of breaking the bone or the plate that made it heavy and stiff lol. Again thank you so much man for the super helpful video and info! Subbed! And I wish you all the best!

@cyclingunboxedКүн бұрын
They are slightly slower but only about 1-1.5w per tyre, unlike the + 5w per tyre for butyl. I can’t personally notice something that small. I think about 10w is around the smallest gain you can feel in my mind
@凸Bebo凸Күн бұрын
You can replace the valve on the white RideNows also. Heat it up with a hair dryer, then hold the base with pliers + a piece of inner tube to protect it, and twist the valve off with your presta valve tool. Put the new valve on with glue or blue loctite and you are good. You have to use something to hold it on or it won't hold air, the plastic threads aren't fine enough.
@gabeh7655Күн бұрын
I've gone through quite a few of the new RideNow 36's on my road commuter and either I'm unlucky with road debris or they provide little more protection than butyl. I chose TPU over tubeless in the hopes of preventing massive blowouts from eucalyptus berries that would occur from time to time, leaving an irreparable hole in a relatively high pressure tire. Now, I carry TPU as backup and stay tubeless. All the guys at the LBS do the same in part due to how small TPU folds up.
@cyclingunboxedКүн бұрын
According to the companies, tpu is stronger as an inner tube than butyl or latex. In my opinion though, it doesn’t matter what type of inner tube you have, if something goes through the tyre casing, it’s 95% change game over for any kind of inner tube, no matter the material.

I have been told that it's not a good idea to run TPU Tubes on a rim brake bike as you run the risk of over heating the tubes ad cause a blow out. As anyone experienced this or heard of issue?
@cyclingunboxedКүн бұрын
I do run them on my winter bike (rim brake) But I run the heavier 36g versions. I have had not problems over the last 3 years. That being said, I think the air temp and the water stops them from getting so warm. Secondly, I believe the 36g versions are rated for rim brakes but the lighter 24 and 19g are not.
@avav30311Күн бұрын
I still ride the old version, because those are very durable. What I like the most is that a puncture can be fixed with basically any tape. The only downside is that the old valve might snap/stick if blasted with CO2. With a bit of practice, that is not an issue though.
@seanmccuen6970Күн бұрын
you have experience filling TPU with CO2? is the trick to just do it slowly?
@avav30311Күн бұрын
@seanmccuen6970 Exactly. I keep the inflator valve halfway open and do it in multiple shots. First time, I did a mistake and blasted the full cartridge at once. Had to wait half a minute for the valve stem to unstuck while losing pressure in the tube. Also, don't know exactly why, but Co2 looks to leak out way faster, but good enough to keep you going for a century. 24h and it is gone, so needs to be replaced with air.
@markcross-powers8206Күн бұрын
I made the mistake of using the older plastic valves tubes as backups for my gravel bike. When I flatted I swapped in the new tube and roughly 60 seconds later the valve broke in half and I had the opportunity to walk five miles back. No issues with the newer aluminum valves, the plastic valved ones are unfortunately sitting in a landfill.

I wanted to see you remove the tubes and examine them after 2 months of use. I have the earlier version of RideNow and at each spoke hole, since the rim tape takes a little dip into the hole from the pressure, the tubes stretch horribly at these spots on the verge of failing. Upon removal, I throw away the tubes not wanting to risk a flat. I don't see anyone else complaining about this.
@cyclingunboxedКүн бұрын
Which brand of rim tape do you have? I use the tubless tape inside (stans usually) which is pretty solid and don’t get them pressing into the spoke holes.

@@cyclingunboxed yeah sir, i went all in and bought like 10 tubes from them for some reason... they literally cant be inflated because the valve stick doesnt stay attached to the surface it sticks to on the wheel or just where the valve goes when you have the tube. you try to attach the inflator and end up pushing the valve into the frame and making it imposible to inflate.
