【最大射程40km・完全自動化】陸上自衛隊 99式自走155mm榴弾砲 実弾射撃｜Japan's Mitsubishi Type 99 155mm Self-propelled Howitzer

平成25年度陸上自衛隊富士総合火力演習（第2学校予行）前段演習・遠距離火力の部において実施された99式自走155mm榴弾砲（防衛省略称“99HSP”、広報向け愛称“ロングノーズ”）実弾射撃の様子です。旧来の75式に比較し、99式は砲身長が30口径から52口径に延長され、通常弾の最大射程は約30kmと75式の1.5倍以上を誇ります。また、ベースブリード弾（弾底から少量の燃焼ガスを噴出して飛翔中の空気抵抗を低減し、砲弾の射程を延伸する方式）である“93式長射程榴弾”使用時の最大射程は、約40kmに及びます。
The Type 99 155 mm self-propelled howitzer is a self-propelled howitzer of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force, which was developed as successor of the Type 75 155 mm Self-propelled howitzer. Research and development was started from 1985 as a successor for the older Type 75 self-propelled 155 mm howitzer. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. was the primary contractor, and developed the main gun and the turret.
The Type 99 uses a modified chassis from the Mitsubishi Type 89 IFV, lengthened with an additional road wheel. The Type 99 uses a 52 caliber barrel compared to the 39 caliber barrel on the Type 75 self-propelled howitzer. Secondary armament of the Type 99 consists of a roof-mounted 12.7-mm machine gun, fitted with a shield.
Armor of the Type 99 provides protection against small arms fire and artillery shell splinters. Vehicle is powered by a diesel engine, developing 600 horsepower. A traveling lock is provided at the front of the hull. It folds back onto the glacis plate when not in use. The Type 99 self-propelled howitzer is resupplied from the Type 99 ammunition resupply vehicle.

まぁ、当時の155mm艦砲弾の九一式徹甲弾は55kgほどで今自衛隊が運用している砲弾重量は42kgほどなので火力的には旧軍の方が上ですね。 因みに大和型戦艦に搭載された副砲は60口径なので通常弾の射程も旧軍の方が上です。 ただ現代の方が鋳造技術は上なので命数は自衛隊の自走砲が圧倒していますね。

Why did the Japanese choose the Type 89 ifv's chassis instead of MBT's one for this SPH? Is it because the Type 90's chassis is too heavy and the Type 74's chassis is no longer in produced?

At the time the Type 99 self-propelled howitzer was built, the only MBT available was the Type 90 tank, which was too large and too heavy, so the smaller and cheaper Type 89 was used.

Thanks for watching. The Japanese Ground Self-Defence Force displays a tricolour flag on vehicles during live-fire exercises. The meanings of the colours of the flags are as follows. Green: safe condition Red: live ammunition loaded or under live fire Orange: out of situation, in trouble (e.g. engine failure, damage to crawler or tyres, poor ammunition loading) The colours of the flags that can frequently be seen in public exercises are green or red, as shown in this video. Orange flags are seldom seen, but on rare occasions an out-of-circumstance problem, such as a faulty ammunition load, will result in an orange flag being displayed on the vehicle. I have also seen an orange flag displayed on a Type 89 IFV during a past exercise when the Type 89 IFV had a malfunction in loading a 35 mm machine gun. In this video, both vehicles initially display a red flag in the situation you mentioned. However, after the first shot, only the vehicle on the left side posted an orange flag in addition to the red flag, without firing a second shot. This means that during live firing, a problem occurred, such as a faulty loading. Therefore, as you have indicated, a faulty ammunition load must have occurred. Due to the complex mechanical construction of advanced automatic loaders, problems such as faulty loading are inevitable at a certain rate. However, the probability of such problems occurring is low and is rarely seen in public exercises. Ironically, this is a rare and valuable image.

@@八雲ラフカディオハーン さん 現在のドイツ連邦軍はマジでヤバいので、ロシアがウクライナを頂きますしても何も出来ないレベルでポンコツ化進んでいますからね。 2019年時点から変わっていなければドイツ空軍は満足にスクランブル出来る機体は1機しか無いほど…… そしてドイツと言えば戦車ですが、その有能な戦車も訓練で使えるのを合わせて僅か70両弱しか稼働出来ないほど…… 海軍はもうね………
