So true. I've used the same arguments as Zuby, because they make logical sense, and it's never gotten traction. If you say "What if I identified as black or 6'5" when I'm not", they will usually retort with "That's different, that's not gender. Studies have shown gender dysphoria is legitimate while race or height dysphoria isn't" and they consider that enough of a rebuttal even though it makes absolutely zero sense. Ritual sacrifice, cannibalism, witch trials, and all sorts of horrible things from the past are beginning to make sense to me now. When you throw logic out the window and basically argue there is no objective reality, anything is possible.

Why do they get to now decide for other people what a human is? I would be totally fine if they treated it like any other religion. You believe it, and you can't force another person to practice your religion. I once talked to someone who identified as non-gender binary. They were upset that a teacher had asked them to "misgender" a character in a short story. In our conversation I asked, "If a someone's personal identity is based on another person recognizing it, is it their personal identity?" A person who is Jewish doesn't need someone who is Muslim doesn't need another person to affirm their faith for them to be Muslim. This is a point that so many activists keep missing. It also makes me think that the "debate" in political circles is being used as a tool to justify censorship.

I don't think people realize that the different sciences will often use the same words to represent different concepts. Biology lists man as the mature male human reproductive class. Sociology apparently lists man as some sort of role that you play in society. Psychology apparently lists it as your "gender identity" The problem is that the latter 2 are based on information gathered about the first, so they come off as incoherent when used outside of their own field but the current push is to try to use those in the legal and colloquial tongues instead of the very obvious one that predated but aligns with biology.

That's a little frustrating. She spends the whole time arguing that there is no objective truth to what makes someone male or female but then backtracks COMPLETELY to say that trans shouldn't compete in women's categories or women's sports because we've already established a long-standing tradition for how we categorize male and female when it comes to sports...right after saying that male and female were not categories and that adhering to tradition is close-minded. You cannot have it both ways. I like Zuby's response of having a desire to be both respectful and truthful at the same time. This can happen. I have zero problem calling my trans friends by their preferred pronouns and names, just like I'd call anyone by a nick-name they would wish to go by (so long as it wasn't offensive) but they really shouldn't need me to force my brain to change reality in order to feel like they've achieved their happiness.

Perhaps you can provide another example. I recently came across one about a person who has anorexia. This individual perceives themselves as being overweight and desires to lose even more weight. How do we address this situation? Using the same logic, should we honor their feelings and assist them in losing even more weight, despite the fact that they are already malnourished and at risk of death? Or should we acknowledge their starvation and help them gain weight instead? This argument is similar to the question of whether we should enable a girl to harm her body if she identifies as a boy. Alternatively, should we dismiss her assertion and instead assist her in addressing her mental health needs?

Open mindedness I would say is more being open to hearing new ideas, but not just accepting ahnd trying every new idea that comes up. It's healthy to be open to hearing new concepts, but saying everyone needs to accept new ideas or they are being closed minded is lunacy ahnd a recipe for chaos...thus the world we live in today.

This is a good example of making good points without addressing her arguments. She wasn’t opposing the other objective categories. She was objecting to the fact that you can objectively determine gender. No one addressed that point. No one addressed why the idea that you can be born in the wrong body is pseudoscience, based off of one study, of a sample of one, that didn’t do any follow up, and then ended up with both not only the participant to kill himself, but also his twin brother. Everything about the idea that you can be born in another body is the definition of pseudoscience. That should be clearly articulated in every conversation on this topic.

Listen, feet and inches are measurement units that we can believe to decide whether something is true or not regarding to height. If we are using this girl logic, we might also debate whether measurements units are believable because we as human can't be objective.
