One quick internet search revealed Facebook bought about 86 companies to accumulate a portfolio of different online products that you may be using. They may still be collecting your data anyways. I think that Facebook is largely unregulated right now. I think it’s not just Facebook. I think the bigger problem is many Silicon Valley firms are working to develop the AI and Robotics technologies that are going to continue to make many traditional jobs extinct. Because of Covid, that might excelerate the move to machines to replace workers. Look at the meat packers situation. Fear is everywhere and things are changing so fast, how are we going to protect ourselves from ever evolving new threats? But the time we figure that out a whole new set of technologies comes out.

Katie is unfortunately, correct-a-mundo. I worked for an Internet equipment maker. I was at home, logged in to an Internet Core Router (not ours) one night and could see the traffic. Assembled files were numbered but their extension identified their file types, so I watched a few videos to see what I would see. That interloping stopped after I watched a beheading, with a knife, in a War Zone. I'm a grown man and a big boy! I watched only one of those videos and I got to and chose to stop immediately. So, is Katie Porter Correct? This big boy says "Yes". The salary is already too low but on top of that is the relentless trauma and as she points out here -> 0:25 the *medical benefits stop immediately when employment stops.* To comment further, I will point out that the other content I watched (only) that night and Facebook Monitors are sure to have to watch is mind numbing and boring. I am dismayed by the content that reaches the Internet. It is as though some people treat it as online storage to avoid storing it at home but it will never, never be accessed - and yet, Facebook Monitors must watch that, all of that, to be sure that no illegal content is snuck in. Must they listen as well? That would be far, far worse. Quick side note but still related : Dubya Appointee Michael Powell and Trump Appointee Ajit Pai wanted to give MORE control of the Internet to corporations. Facebook has repeatedly demonstrated that only profit matters to them. Yet recent News has revealed that false and other information on Facebook has caused great harm. Monopoly control is bad, bad for Markets, bad for people, bad for freedom. The Internet is a decentralized tool and Business Interests do not get to steal that from us. ▪
