Zukertort found such beautiful combinations. Like uncovering gems deep in the earth. Amazing calculations. I can only wonder how many brilliant gems are overlooked in my own games because I am not able to dig this deep and see them.

I sometimes go back in time in Mato Jelic's upload history, and choose a random video to watch, only to discover that I've already seen it, because the moves look so familiar. So much video's by Mato I have seen, so many killer moves I tried to find. Even if I would never play OTB games anymore and quit studying chess, I would still enjoy these videos.

Brilliant tactics, I only saw one of them (Rf8), but was unsure about it. Thanks for sharing, Mato.

Hey Mato! I would like (and hopefully many others) to see you play. I am very curious of your playstyle. Maybe you could even do it live! The possibilities are endless, but hopefully you see this and get an idea. Thank you for the amazing commentary. Good luck on your king hunt :)

Great and famous game. ( I didn’t know you’d analysed this one, Mato, but thank you. ) Zukertort's nerves often got the better of him, but not here. Immortal indeed. Hope he didn’t pinch Blackburne's whisky as well.

In the critcal position I would've played d6.

So, you would have played the second best move at this moment, Arun Nair; congratulations, because it's really the only other possibility to win , although with more difficulty after the answer 28...Qg5 for example...

those who admire the technique of Zukertot, i recommend studying mating patterns. If GM Zukertod hadn't known the patterns that well, he wouldn't be able to play that brilliantly.

I am kind of glad that you did not elaborate on how alternative moves besides King to g8 did not help the outcome of the game. It gave me something to compute.

at 4:09, instead of zukertorts brilliant move, Rf8+ directly is good as well, if I'm not mistaken.if RxR, then QxR and the problem of the c2 rook attacking B and Q is solved. If QxR (on f8) then white has a forced mate in several moves. (and if, instead of somehow taking on f6, Kxh7 and thus escaping the check, its also a quick forced mate)
@Oscar7468
@Oscar7468 5 жыл бұрын
I don't see any forced mate after QxR, on the contrary: Black would be winning (sorry if I'm wrong..)

At time 7:46, black to play, why not to move the black queen to g5, threat is checkmate in one? And then white bishop to e 5 doesn't work

21...f5 was very bad. Black should have tried to keep game closed. I was thinking 21...ng7 and possibly going to f5 eventually with the knight.
